Week On The Beach: Chapter 3 - Another

Ren opened his eyes. The sun was hitting them just as it had the last time he'd woken up. He felt almost like a farmer waking up at the crack of dawn. Although it was a good alarm to be fair. He started to wonder what time it was, depending on the time of year it could vary wildly.

Ren: Or maybe it's just always summer in this place. Either way the sun is so damn bright.

He spoke with a groggy voice. Why was waking up always so hard?

Kura: I see, shall I close the blinds?

Ren: No no, it's alright. Thanks thought Kura.

Kura: Of course.

Ren felt almost relived, he thought having someone watching him like this would feel weird. But to his surprise it felt almost comforting.

Kura: I have prepared breakfast for you.

Ren: Oh, thank you. I could've made it myself but thanks.

Kura: Having my master make a meal would be considered quite rude.

Ren: Don't worry about it. You're a person too, you deserve a break sometimes.

Kura: I cannot deny what you say. However I am a maid first and foremost.

Ren: If you say so.

Kura: Please excuse my rudeness. Would you like to eat breakfast now, or should I give you some time to prepare yourself?

Ren: Could you give me a moment to get dressed?

Kura: Very well.

As Ren got dressed he thought to himself. Did Kura really just think of herself as a servant who had no say of her own? That wasn't right, if that's the way she thought, he'd have to do something to fix it. At least, someday.

*knock knock*

Ren looked toward his door. He could hear Kura's muffled voice from behind it.

Kura: Master Ren. Miss Mana is at your door. Shall I let her in?

Ren: Yeah go ahead. And get her some tea.

Kura: As you wish.

Ren quickly finished getting dressed after that. When he opened the door, Mana was sitting at the table with a teacup in hand. Kura was by the oven where she seemed to be making something.

Mana: Hello Ren.

Ren: Hey Mana. Did you need something?

Mana: I was wondering if you would like to spend some time with me.

Ren: Yeah I'd love to. Did you have something in mind? You wanna watch more Death Note?

Mana: Not at the present time, however I would like to continue viewing that at a later date. In this case I'm inviting you to go to the beach with me.

Ren: Sure it sounds fun.

Mana: Okay. Of course I recommend we enjoy Kura's splendid tea and breakfast first.

Ren: What is she making anyway?

Kura: I am preparing some pancakes at the moment.

Ren: You seem to know what I like.

Ren: Of course knowing her cooking it'll taste amazing no matter what.

And just as Ren thought. They were the best pancakes he'd ever had in his life.

Mana: They taste amazing. Thank you Kura.

Kura: You are very welcome miss Mana.

Ren: So you wanted to go to the beach?
