Will arrives at the restaurant a couple minutes early. He wonders if he should wait a bit longer before coming in so he doesn't seem too desperate, but ends up deciding to just go.
Will stands at the entrance and puts his hands on the cold metal door handles.
Why was he so nervous?
Will stays standing there, taking deep breaths.
He shouldn't have let his friend Dustin set up a blind date for him. But here he was, about to go on a date with a girl he had never met before.
"Um, excuse me?"
Will turns to see a couple standing behind him.
"Hi," Will says, raising his hand to give them a half-committed wave.
The girl raises her eyebrow.
"Aren't you going to move?"
Will quickly moves to the side.
"Yes, of course, definetely, I'm so sorry."
"Whatever," the girl says, taking her date's arm and strutting inside.
Will shuts his eyes tightly and smacks himself on the forehead.
What was he doing? He was fine. This date would be fun!
Feeling a slight bit better, Will walks into the restaurant.
His breath is immediately taken away. The restaurant was beautiful. From polished quartz floors to velvety blue walls with gold finishes, the restaurant looked almost too fancy for a boring town such as Hawkins. No wonder Dustin had tried so hard to convince him to go here.
Will walks up to the counter.
"Reservation?" the man behind the counter asks.
"Will Byers."
"Right this way, sir."
The waiter takes Will to his table, the third booth in a row of four on the right side near the back of the restaurant. The booth was velvet red with glossy black sides, as well as a red table with a black square middle to match. There was also some bright red roses and a small white candle for the finishing touches.
Will sits down and waits for his date. He wonders what she'll be like. Sweet and funny? What if she's really mean? Dustin wouldn't set him up with someone mean, would he? What if this was a prank?
Will is still lost in paranoid thoughts and what-ifs when a girl comes in and sits across from him at the booth. She has long dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes, as well as a long flowy red dress and shiny white pearl earrings.
"Hello," Will says. He feels his cheeks start to turn warm and his palms sweat. Why was he so damn nervous? Calm down. Calm down. Calm down.
"Hi!" she says. "What's your name?"
"Will Byers."
"Cool! Mine is Jennifer Hayes."
"That's a pretty name. And I love your dress. It's really pretty. You're really pretty."
Will wasn't lying. The girl sitting in front of him was absolutely gorgeous. Will was surprised she didn't already have a boyfriend. Heck, he was surprised she didn't just see him and immediately get disinterested and leave.
"Thank you!" She replies, smiling warmly.
"This restaurant is really cool," Will says, trying to find a good conversation topic.
