Once, second and a third time the clock struck. And from the opaque depth of dark wood, human shaped figures walked into the ballroom.
One after another all dressed in fancy, shining clothes.
I was standing next to clock and astonishly watched the elegance of their moves. Their steps were so tender as they barely touch the ground. At first they stood in two rows facing each other. On the left women in long glorious dresses, gentle gloves and high combed hair. On the righ side men in elegant suits of dark royal blue colour. They bowed to each other and as they started to dance glamorous music of orchestra began to play. Admirable tone of violin flew through air and I wanted so much to join their exquisite dance of waltz. Five minutes into the dance and they began to sing, I couldn't believe my eyes and ears, such outstanding ball that I am honoured to watch. Their voices complimented the dance as they gracefully moved in circles and changed partners. Women's voices tender as blooming flowers on endless spring greenered meadows far in the mountains. Men's voices strong and adamant as noble stallions harnessed to royal carriages.
"If only i could join", I said quietly but my voice dissappeared in the beautiful music. And while I imagined myself dancing one of the strangers walked to me. He gave me his hand and said: "Would you like to dance?" I looked him into eyes, brown like finest, rich chocolatte with a bit of gold around the pupil and without hesitation answered: "Yes, I'd love to." He took me to the center of a ballroom and we joined the dance. Somehow he looked familir to me but I couldn't remember, yet I doubt he was a human being. I felt cold in his presence even thought he was very attractive his gaze was freezing me inside out. I have a bad feeling he sees the depth of my soul. But I didn't care I was enjoying the dance, so far the best one in my life. My long dress with colour of luxurious wine excelled in the centre. And I was dancing and dancing until I lost trace od time. My hands were losing colour my wine dress faded and I looked more and more like strangers around me. I became see through. But I want this night to never end, but when the dawn approached the ballroom dance stopped. Hand to hand, pair after pair dissappeared inside the ominious clock. I followed my partner and when sun's rays touched his golden hair we vanished together and forever.
Because the strangers are lost souls who take their victims for the waltz of death and vanish forever.
After the dance, young woman never returned home.
