Beep beep.Beep beep.
I groaned as I heard my clock beep. No, I wanna sleep more! But the sound kept on buzzing and it was annoying me so I slammed the clock to turn it off. Opening my eyes, I looked at the time. 8:20. I gasped.
"Shit!" I exclaimed as I realized I'm going to be late for work. Jumping out of the bed, I made my way to my bathroom. Working quickly, I took a shower almost like The Flash then put on my clothes. This is what I get for watching movie on a weekday! I don't know what got to me and just watched random movies until 3:00 in the morning. Idiot!
After I got dressed, I took my backpack, where I keep all the things I need for work, and my phone. When I was sure I've got what I need, I ran out of my apartment, since the elevator was jammed again, and went to the stairs to get down from my flat which was on the 7th floor. I was almost out of breath when I reached the ground floor and went outside to get a cab.
"Global News please." I said to the driver while still catching my breath. As we we're on our way, I searched through my phone for Jennys number. When I found it, I pressed call and waited.
"Where the hell are you, April? You're supposed to be here 15 minutes ago." Her slightly high yet elegant voice scolded.
"Yes, I know and I'm sorry. I'll be there in 3 minutes. Is boss already there?" I asked anxiously.
"Yes, and he isn't happy. He's been looking for you since he got here. You better get your ass here quick."
"Yeah, I'm there. Bye." I hung up and put my phone inside my bag. Now, I'm scared. I have a lot of thoughts going through my mind right now. Why does he want to talk to me? She said he was pissed. Uh oh that can't be good. What if he fires me? Now that, I cannot allow. I just got promoted from being an assistant to an interviewer at Global News and I'm not gonna let it slip away that easily. Not now, not never. It has always been my dream to be a reporter and go on the field where you could ask questions to random strangers in front of the camera. But unfortunately, that dream is postponed for a while. An interviewer is kind of like that but I don't get to be on live television which is fine, I'm not complaining. It's all I have for now and maybe one day they would finally recognize me and promote me to my dream position.
The cab stopped in front of a tall silver building with a sign that reads 'Global News'. I payed the taxi and ran inside to get to the elevator. I went inside the elevator with a few other people inside and pressed the 5th floor on the button. As we got to that floor, I went outside and walked on the hallway. I passed by the room that's full of tables inside. It's where the reporters work on their stories. They're behind a glass window that you could actually see what they we're doing inside. Now, our office is almost at the end of the hallway on the left side. It's not as huge as the reporters office but I could say it's big enough for me. When I finally saw our door, I got inside the office and searched for my table. There are ten people in this room and all of us are interviewers. Some of us interview celebrities, singers, dancers, writers, directors, etc.. For my case, I'm focused on singers and bands which is the other reason why I wanna keep this job because I love bands. And if he really decides to fire me, I would beg not to.
I was fixing my things on my table when someone spoke behind me.
"Why are you late?" I jumped and turned around to see Jenny looking at me with her arms crossed on her chest.
"Jesus, you scared me!" I touched my chest and tried to calm myself.
"You are almost 30 minutes late, April. It's only been 2 weeks since you've been promoted and you only had one interview finished and now you come up here late." She said almost not taking a moment to breathe. Preach.
"I know, I know and I'm sorry okay. I won't do it again, I promise."
She sighed,"Just what we're you doing last night?" She asked with her now calm voice.
"I was--"
"Smith!"
I stood up almost immediately as I heard that very familliar voice.
"Yes, boss?" I gulped.
"In my office. Now!" He then slammed his office door loud that almost hurt my ears. Jenny looked at me with worried eyes.
Oh boy.
I'm so dead.
