"Here is your coffee Mrs. Aimé." my assistant Chloe said to me
"Thanks, Chloe, and is there anything on my schedule?" I asked her
"Yes, ma'am there is quite a lot," she told me smiling
I nodded and took in everything she is telling me about my busy schedule.
After Chloe left I started working on the paperwork.
When I finished that up I worked on some interviews with potential new employees.
I wasn't impressed by any of the interviews but I may give someone a chance to prove to me different
After a whole day of working, I left the office and drove to the cafe my friend Lauren wants to meet me at.
When I arrived Lauren was not there yet so I got us a table and waited on her luckily for me she arrived after 5 minutes.
"Keziah girl you look so good." Lauren cheesed while hugging me
"Thank you, and so do you" I smiled hugging her back
"How are you? How was London and how are the boys?" I asked her happily
Lauren went to London two months ago for her job so I haven't seen her in a long time. When she went to London she brought her boyfriend, Jeremiah, and their five-year-old son, Khalil.
Lauren and I went to hell and back, we were neighbors when we were younger. Her parents used to beat her and her little sister who stayed with me during the London trip. And my parents were no good either they didn't acknowledge me at all they only cared about sex drugs and money. When we were eighteen Lauren, Serena, Jeremiah, and I moved from Atlanta, GA to Los Angeles, CA.
"We are doing good Khalil missed his godmother of course, and Jeremiah missed your cooking but that's it. And I missed my best friend." she smiled
"How are you and Serena doing?" she asked me
"Great we went to the new arcade and had some quality time. I made sure she passed her Spanish class. I informed her
"And are you ok, today would be your fourth anniversary," she asked
Lauren was questioning me about my ex who died due to gang violence. We got together a few months after I moved to LA. he told me that he would stop and leave this lifestyle but before he could he was killed.
I was pregnant at the time but had a miscarriage due to all the stress I had. I wasn't thinking at all I didn't eat or sleep all I could do was cry and ask why him. His best friend jay had reached out to me and told me that my boyfriend had bought a ring, and he wanted to propose to me.
During my depression, Jeremiah, Jay, and Lauren helped me to start over and to enjoy life at first it was hard but later on, I realized that Cairo would have wanted that. I wear his ring around my neck with a necklace so he can always be with me.
"I am fine Lauren thanks for asking" I appreciated her asking
We conversed and requested some food.
"Keziah you should date again, you are too precious to not date," Lauren told me
"I don't know Lauren dating is not my specialty at all," I responded
"We will see" she replied
"I'd hope that I will ever find love, true love" I smiled dreaming about it
I'd love to have a family of my own, two kids a boy and a girl, a loving husband, and my best friends.
"Have you spoken to Jay?" Lauren asks
"Yes every day" I smiled she gave me a side eye making me roll my eyes
"Not like that Lauren, he's one of my best friends I appreciate him," I told her making her nod
It's true Jay is nothing more than a friend of mine he was there for me when I needed him the most that is why I appreciate him. Plus, I use to date his best friend it would be wrong to date him too.
"Speaking of the Devil" I held up my phone showing Lauren that Jay is calling me she chuckled and I answered the call

Lauren and I said our goodbyes and went separate ways
When I got home Serena was on the couch watching Netflix.
"Hey, how was work," she asked
"Hey, work was great. I met up with your sister"
"Oh well how is she, " Serena asked while fidgeting with her fingers
"She Is doing amazing" I replied smiling
After our chat, I walked upstairs to my room and got in the shower I took a long hot shower, and afterward, I went to bed
