Legends. Stories scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants, byproducts, of a forgotten past.

Man, born from dust, was strong, wise, and resourceful, but he was born into an unforgiving world. An inevitable darkness — creatures of destruction — the creatures of Grimm - people of The End. The demons of the nether. All set their sights on man and all of his creations. These forces clashed, and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void.

However, even the smallest spark of hope is enough to ignite change, and in time, man's passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named "Dust".

Nature's wrath in hand, man lit their way through the darkness, and in the shadow's absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life.

But even the most brilliant lights eventually flicker and die. And when they are gone... darkness will return.

So you may prepare your guardians, build your monuments to a so-called "free world", but take heed... there will be no victory in strength

But perhaps victory is in the simpler things that you've long forgotten. Things that require a smaller, more honest soul.

Ruby Rose was listening to music on her headphones as she stood in the dust shop. She was shopping for a present for her sister, Yang. Yang had been accepted into Beacon Academy. Beacon Academy was the Huntsman Academy of the Kingdom of Vale. The Academy trained teams of Huntsmen and Huntresses to slay the various monsters that plague Remnant. Ruby's sister had been accepted to train there.

Ever since she was little, Ruby has had a romanticized view of the Huntsman profession. She is quick to reveal she wanted to become a Huntress in order to be like the great heroes in fairy tales, and she has described being one as far more "romantic" than being a police officer.

In order to become a Huntress, Ruby trained at Signal Academy, where her skills and abilities far surpassed her peers. Wielding a dangerous weapon like Crescent Rose required strength, balance and adaptability.

Y/N walked throughout the dark city. His purple eyes glowed in the darkness. He continued to walk and explore the city. To a majority of the people, he either looked like a psychopath or a hobo. Y/N looked down at his necklace and the Eye of Ender on it. It looked less like an eye, and more like an eye sized crystal.

He walked around the city, until he stopped at a small shop called From Dust Till Dawn. He sniffed the air and smelt something good. He ran inside and saw shelve after shelve of dust. His favorite food. It's what helped with his teleportation and sonic scream. Although Ender people looked exactly like humans, their body's worked differently.

Y/N's fingers gently trailed along the various containers of dust. He licked his lips in hunger. He wanted to open it up and start eating, but he didn't understand how the machine's worked. Y/N was so focused on opening the containers that he failed to notice the group walking in.

Roman: Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a Dust shop open this late?

Roman said to the elderly shopkeeper. One of the henchman pointed his gun at the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper raised his hands in fear.

Shopkeeper: P-please! Just take my Lien and leave!

Roman: Shhh, shhh, shhh, shhh, calm down, we're not here for your money.

Roman looked at his henchmen

Roman: Grab the Dust.

A henchman opens a case and removes one of several cylinders, which the group uses to take Dust from the tube containers on the walls. One henchman placed another open case on the display to the shopkeeper.

Henchman 1: Crystals. Burn. Uncut.

One of the henchmen looked around and noticed Y/N crouching and eating something.

Henchman 2: Alright kid, put your hands where I can see 'em.

He pulled out his sword and walked to Y/N. Y/N didn't say anything as he continued eating. He had finally managed to open on of the containers and began eating the dust. He could feel the energy pulsing through his body.

Henchman 2: Hey, I said hands in the air! You got a death wish or something!?

The henchman shouted to Y/N and finally managed to get his attention. Y/N turned around and got up. The henchman's eyes widened as he looked at Y/N. He was about six and a half or seven feet tall.

Ruby overheard the commotion and looked over at the henchman and Y/N

Henchman 2: Listen! You better put your hands in the air, or your not going to be breathing anymore!

The henchman was obviously about to lose his temper as Y/N looked at him with an empty expression. Most of his face was hidden in his black scarf.

Ruby: Hey? Are you robbing him?

Ruby asked the henchman.

Henchman 2: Ya! So?

Ruby: Ooohhh...

Roman is waiting for his men to finish the heist when a "Hey!" and "Hyah!" was heard, and the threatening henchman was sent flying past him. Roman calmly motions for another to handle Ruby and Y/N. Ruby was looking at the towering Y/N.

Ruby: Hey? Are you ok?

Ruby looked up at the figure before her. Y/N understood what she said and nodded his head gently.

Henchman 1: Freeze!

The other henchman said as he ran over. He accidentally pulled the trigger and shot Y/N right in his shoulder. Y/N's eyes widened as the sudden pain hit him. Ruby gasped in shock at this and tried to stop the bleeding. Y/N let out a scream of pain. Only this scream wasn't exactly human. It was, hard to describe. Y/N shook violently. The henchman aimed his gun at Y/N's head, but Y/N then shot at the henchman so fast that if you blinked you would have missed it. Y/N pinned the man to a wall and started punching him repeatedly. Ruby watched in amazement as Y/N made quick work of the man and tossed him aside. Just then, Ruby and Y/N heard guns loading up. Both turned and saw the other henchmen with guns out.

Ruby: You take the ones on the left and I take the ones on the right?

Ruby then pulled out her weapon. Y/N looked at the weapon, then at Ruby. He had to admit, she was rather adorable.
