"Can I get you another cup of coffee?" My stare out of the window was broken when a older aged woman with thin gray hair walked up to me.
"Oh, no thanks. I'm just meeting my friends and boyfriend here." I replied with an easy smile.
I read her name tag, Nellie, as she nodded and returned a smile while she walked away.
Finally, Desiree walked through the front café door, made the bell ring atop the door. Her boyfriend, Blake, walking behind her sat across from me at the booth, and Desi slid beside me, and I threw my arm around her shoulders.
"Isn't Matt supposed to meet us here?"
I pressed the home button on my phone; 8:46.
"Considering both of you were also supposed to be here at 8, yes. All three of you are late." I laughed and looked at my best friend under my arm.
"I guess uh-... I guess we got a little caught up... lost track of time." Blake smirked and looked out the window.
"I thought we promised on the way here we wouldn't talk about it?" Desi cracked up.
"Yeah, well, we didn't." Blake winked.
Desi got pink in the face and looked at me, watching me make a disgusted face.
I was laughing at the two idiots sitting with me, and sharp ping sounded from beside me.

"Dad
I need you home. ASAP."

What?

"New Message: Dad
I'm with friends and Matt is on his way, can I be home in an hour?"

"Evelyn, you okay?"
I glanced at my best friend, my right arm still wrapped around her shoulders, and pulled away.

"Ye- um, yes, I just-"

"Dad
Evelyn, now."

"I- I have to go, tell Matt to stay and I'll be right back."
I grabbed my side bag and threw my phone in grabbing my keys.

I stepped out of the front door of the small café, a huge burst of wind making my hair fly behind me.

-....-....-....-....-
I'm tired of being called home like this, away from my friends. Mom never used to pull me away from them. Now that it's just Dad, things are different.

The door swung open in front of me right as I was pulling out my keys.

"Dad.. what's going on?" I breathed, startled by the sudden movement of the door.

"Evelyn, come in side.. please.."

My heart starting racing in my chest, my palms getting moist at the thoughts of what could be happening.

I walked into the living room, the heels of my boots making a faint snap on the wooden floor.
I saw my sister sitting in the cream colored chair, her legs hanging off of the armrest.

"What's going on?"

"Ev, sit down," my Nana started.

"What the hell is going on?!"
My dad walked in the room behind me.

"Listen-... It's about Matt."
