"Asshole" Anastasia mumbled as Billy pushed past her when there was more than enough space in the hallway for him to walk. Of course the comment didn't go unnoticed by him, as he turned around "Do you have a problem princess?"

Anastasia simply scoffed and rolled her eyes before turning around and making her way to her locker hurriedly grabbing a handmade model of Hawkins before leaving through the double doors. Outside, Steve waited in his BMW for her, she quickly got in and slammed the door behind her "Hurry up!" she announced

"Jeez, okay!" Steve defended before starting the car and rushing to Hawkings Middle School. Even before he had stopped the car, Anastasia was already out and rushing to the entrance, where the party was waiting for her.

"Hi, sorry I'm late" she breathed out and handed Will the model she had made for him "Good luck with your presentation" she smiled at the boy, who thanked her with a smile

"Are we still on for tonight?" Max wondered out loud

"Sure thing Mad Max" Anastasia winked at the girl before bidding her goodbyes and getting in the car with a relieved breath.

"All done!" she smiled turning to Steve

He ran a hand through his hair "Why are you always doing other people's homework?" he teased

"Oh come on!" she groaned "Will just needed a little extra help"

Steve chuckled "Sure, Stasi"

She narrowed her eyes with a small smile "You know what?"

"What?" he chuckled

"We should get slushies" she proposed with puppy eyes

"Anastasia, it's december!" he widened his eyes

"So what?" she shrugged

"You're crazy" he laughed, starting the car again while Anastasia squealed excitedly, causing him to chuckle.

"Only for you" she teased, Steve stepped on the brakes, their bodies jolting forward.

Steve turned to her, eyes wide and mouth agape "Was that- a pick up line?" he stuttered.

Anastasia laughed uncontrollably at him "Steve!" she exclaimed "Keep driving!"

Anastasia wrapped her coat tightly around her before ringing the doorbell twice, she prayed Billy wasn't the one to open the door but to her luck he opened the door with furrowed brows "What are you doing here?"

She stared into his eyes awkwardly for a second before answering "I'm here for Max" was what she settled for, choosing to avoid further conversation possibilities with him.

He visibly swallowed before speaking up again "Look-" he dragged a hand down his face with a tired exhale "I didn't mean what I said about you being a slut or none of the things I did, I- I just got mad" he said through gritted teeth, avoiding eye contact at all costs

The girl simply hummed in response, already fed up, she patted his shoulder "Good for you" she pushed past him and entered his house, Max must've heard her because she left her room.

She already had her dress on but her hair was a tangled mess, the comb sticking out of it and stuck. Her face was red and she looked relieved to find Anastasia. "Hey, thank you for coming. I need help" she said, grabbing her hand and dragging her to her room. Not fully closing the door behind her she sat at the vanity in her room Anastasia behind her assessing the hair situation "Did Billy bother you? You're being quiet" Max mumbled

"Not at all," Anastasia smiled. "I'm just trying to figure out how to fix this," she pointed at the girl's head. Max smiled apologetically and looked down "Don't worry, it's not that bad" the older girl consoled.

She got to work with the girl's hair, carefully pulling out the comb before dampening it and brushing through it until there were no more tangles. Then she grabbed two pieces from the front and bradding each individually before tying them together. She then pulled out some blush from her bag, applying it to the apples of the girls cheeks. Lastly she gave her a cherry flavored gloss like the one she used, Max's eyes widened and she gave Anastasia the biggest smile she could muster up.

All the while Billy watched from afar, how gentle Anastasia was with Maxine and the connection the two undoubtedly shared. Sadly enough, he wished his friendship with Anastasia had gotten to that level, but of course he had ruined it. So he was sad about them not being friends, and that made him angry, which meant he was rude to everyone, including her, which kept them from being friends and her from forgiving him no matter how many times he tried to apologize.

He was sitting at the kitchen table smoking a cigarette when the girls exited the room, the brightest of smiles decorating their faces as they chatted and laughed animatedly. Anastasia turned to him, her face falling in the process, his heart too upon noticing this "Can you drive us? Steve dropped me off but he's driving Dustin" she explained

He nodded wordlessly, this would give him a chance to apologize, again, and maybe this time he would be more lucky than before. The car ride was dead silent, except for the rock that played from the radio, it almost drowned the roaring engine, almost. Anastasia sat rigidly in the passenger seat while Max sat at the back bouncing her leg up and down nervously. The car finally stopped in front of the middle school. Billy turning the car off

Anastasia turned around in her seat, to speak to Max "Have fun Max, yeah?" she smiled, the kid mumbled a quick thank you before scrambling out of the car "You look beautiful!" Anastasia called after her before unbuckling her seatbelt and going to open the door only to find it was locked, she swallowed and turned to Billy.

"Open the door Billy" she demanded tugging at the knob

"Can you listen to me" he pleaded "please"

"Billy" she breathed out

"Look I'm very sorry about what I did, Anastasia. I know I have issues and I just lost it"

"I know you are sorry and I know you have issues but that doest mean I have to forgive you" she paused, taking in his tear brimmed eyes "Now open the damm door Billy" she demanded, he wordlessly did as he was told and she grabbed her bag and got out the car.

Pure anger filled the teenage girl, all she wanted was to forget about that night and all the memories and trauma that came with it. All Billy was unknowingly doing was hurt her in the process of apologizing which infuriated the girl to no avail. She wanted a normal life, she had to at least pretend to have one while she played lookout for the government.

Being away from Owens only had made her feel more like a prisoner, she now lived on her own, which at first was comforting but being left alone with your own thoughts for so long could damage even the greatest minds.

She was walking on the road, looking for Steve's BMW but as a chill ran up her spine she stopped short. She warily checked her surroundings not seeing anything suspicious, she then stared at the sky with narrowed eyes before deciding she just had PTSD or something and choosing to ignore her gut.

But what a grave mistake that was.

As she continued walking forward a high-pitched ringing filled her ears. She grabbed at her head with a grimace and a grunt. Familiar whispers filled her ears "Anastasia..." a menacing voice spoke up, it was deep and intimidating
