The sun starts to go down once again and she starts to grab her stuff before looking to her right.
"Come on honey." She mutters to the small child as she wakes her and loud cries echo through the fields. "I'm here, I'm right here." Hestia grabs the small bundle and holds her close, rocking her until she was silent again.
The days were to unbearably hot to walk in and though the nights were colder, there were always treacherous paths and wild animals she would encounter. Not made easier by the fact that she was carrying an infant. One that didn't scare easily, but was still too small to grasp the reality of their ways.
Hestia did not think much of their journey, only that they would have to make their way further and further away from the people that were chasing them. Were they still? She hadn't encountered one in many moons but still there was this feeling of restlessness in her.
She hears the small cries and closes her eyes, taking a deep breath before looking down. The dark brown eyes of the small girl look at her in wonder and Hestia smiles at her.
"It's all okay." She shushes and looks around for a place that would cover them.
They hadn't made it as far as she hoped, the small girl often cried for food or cleanliness and Hestia had to make time for it, even if she didn't want to. The child would come first. She always came first.
If only her family knew where she was. Had they taken the time to realise that she wasn't home anymore?
A dizzy feeling takes over Hestia as she bows down beside the small girl to give her the food she so desires. Hestia sits down beside her and starts raking deep breaths while holding out the bottle for her small girl. This wasn't the life that she had wanted for the little human. For the little innocent one.
A life on the run. Always looking behind. Though one might say that it was adventurous, it was exhausting and Hestia had been feeling that for a long time. Surviving on barely any food, scouring the places for any source of water. Making sure that they'd filter the water. Hestia was exhausted.
Maybe that's why she didn't hear the footsteps nearing or the flashing lights coming toward her.
