TWELVE

"Why did you treat our mate that way?" Dylan's wolf snarled at him, as he paced his room restlessly, mentally cursing himself for acting like an asshole towards his mate.

" I couldn't help it. I'm still mad at her for what she did" He tried to defend his actions.

"That's no excuse. She's in pain and we're the only ones who can make her feel better"

"I know. I know..."

His wolf wasn't helping at all. It kept growling and grunting, and scolding him for ruining the perfect chance of claiming his mate. He had no clue what it felt like for a female werewolf in heat, since he was a male werewolf, but he could tell from Isabel's body language when he had walked into the kitchen that she was in intense pain. What if she goes to some other male werewolf since Carlos is in a coma? He would never forgive himself if that happens.

"What are you still waiting for?!" His livid wolf yelled.

Dylan obeyed his wolf without a second thought,running out of the room to meet Isabel. He would be the worst mate in the world if he doesn't help his mate in such a crucial time.

The kitchen was empty by the time Dylan got there. There wasn't a sign of Isabel in the kitchen. He didn't waste any second as he ran back towards the direction of the stairs, but her scent instantly drew him towards the living room. Dylan was left in shock when he noticed that the front door was wide open.

"Oh, no!"

A furious knock on the front door woke Rodrigo and his mate, Paulina. They quickly jumped out of bed thinking the pack was in some kind of danger. Rodrigo who was sleeping in just his shorts reached for his pyjamas pants on the floor, to look the least decent, while Paulina hurried to get the door.

She opened the door to a familiar black werewolf in front of her house, carrying what looks like a nightie robe with its teeth. It was whimpering in pain.

"Oh my god!"

Paulina collected the nightie robe from the werewolf and immediately placed it on the creature before Rodrigo reached the door. The werewolf shifted into its human form, revealing Isabel in tears.

"Isabel?!" Her dad exclaimed in surprise.

He wasn't expecting to see his daughter until Friday when she promised to bring her mate over for lunch.

"I can't take it anymore, mom" She sobbed, as her mom hugged her tightly.

Over the years the former alpha and Luna's house has been Isabel's haven whenever she was in heat, because this was the only place she could express her pain without anyone finding out, and her dad was the only werewolf strong enough to hold her down if she was tempted to run out, to look for a werewolf to mate her. That was why when her mate refused to mate her, she had no choice but to run to her last resort.

"Take her to the room" Rodrigo told his mate who guided their daughter to her bedroom.

Isabel's cries and screams were muffled by the cloth in her mouth as she was restrained on her bed with strong ropes on her hands and legs. Her continuous squirming and thrashing on the bed was unable to set her loose, making her scream out in frustration.

Anybody who walked in to witness this scene would probably misunderstand her parents and assume them to be abusive parents, but this was for her own good. Her heat usually lasted for three days, and the second and third day Isabel considers the worse days of her life. Isabel's tears poured freely as she recalled the kitchen incident. Never in all her life did she imagine herself getting rejected by her mate. Although, he didn't reject her outrightly or officially like in the cases of some werewolves whose mates ended up falling in love with someone else, the painful feeling of rejection was eating her up. Will she ever be loved as a female werewolf in power?

Dylan went into hysterics when he couldn't find his mate. He had searched and searched for her deep into the woods, but it was all to no avail. To think she was avoiding him on purpose, as her scent was almost everywhere. What if some werewolf was mating with her at this very moment? Just the thought of his mate being with another werewolf aggravated his wolf. Where does he look for her in such a big pack? Who does he go to to find out her whereabouts when it's impossible to mind-link a single werewolf from this pack? How does he face her on her return? And most of all, what punishment will he receive for his actions?
