1980... When Kirk and Luann Van Houten's lives change forever.
Kirk stared at the tv. With the lights off, the colors from it flicked across the room. The horses approached the finish line. Seabiscuit was in the lead... Suddenly, it trailed behind, coming in 4th. "Damn it!" Kirk yelled, flinging himself off the couch. Luann walked in the room, 9 months pregnant. "You do know that that's a tape from a 1972 race, right?" "Yeah, it's just I'm too nervous to place a bet, so I practice with old recordings till I get better," Kirk responded. "It's mostly luck." "I don't care." Luann muttered something under her breath. "What was that?" Kirk asked with a rather sharp tone. "Nothing, dear."
Luann walked into the kitchen, and placed her hand over her stomach. She felt the baby kick. "Kirk, what do you think the baby's name shou-" she began to call out. She was interrupted when she fell back, supporting herself on a table. It felt like everything was being thrown around, then sucked into a void, leaving only her left. She collapsed on her knees. "What NOW, Luann?" Kirk called. "Luann?" She felt so nauseous... "Kirk, I... I think the baby's coming."
She lay down in the backseat of Kirk's car as he drove them to the hospital. She felt like she was about to throw up. "Luann, hold on.." Kirk said, as they pulled into Springfield hospital. He got out of the car, took Luann, and began to carry then towards the doors. "Oh god, you're heavy.." Luann began to feel herself slip. She quickly grabbed onto Kirk's shoulders, "saving" herself. "It's gonna be okay... It's aaallll gonna be okay." Luann could tell Kirk was saying it more to himself, to calm his nerves.
Suddenly, everything started to become blurry. Everything seemed to flash by. She could barely make out the face of Dr. Hibbert... Kirk sitting a cross from her.. the bed she was set on... Suddenly, she felt a huge pain. She started to breathe heavily. She pushed. She breathed. She pushed. Suddenly, everything grew even more blurry. Then, extreme pain, followed by the wailing and crying of a new born baby. Her vision came back, and she looked at her baby. "Congratulations, Mrs. Van Houten. It's a beautiful baby boy." Besides being as ugly as a new born baby would, it actually looked quite cute. Big nose, bushy blue eyebrows (yes, BLUE- genetics of the family), yet very small eyes. Well no matter how ugly or cute her baby was, it was an amazing child to Luann.
The next week...
The Van Houten family had arrived home. Luann stood cradling her baby in her arms as Kirk continued to watch tv. They had named their baby Milhouse- well, more like Luann named her baby Milhouse. Kirk had nothing to do with it. When asked what he thought a good name was, he responded with "I dunno. You're the mother, that's your job." Luann didn't care. She could tell that Kirk would start to grow accustomed to Milhouse over time, and that they might have a close relationship. But for now, she knew that she'd have to do everything for the baby. Yet, she didn't mind. She loved Milhouse, and that love would never waver. She would always stand by Milhouse.
Or would she?
Author's note: I'm sorry this was so short. I feel like this is kind of like an introduction of sorts, and the next installment will be chapter 1, when Milhouse is 1 year old. Also, I treated Kirk bad because I can imagine when Milhouse comes in, it makes him see how good his life is. So, when him and Luann divorce, he becomes a deadbeat Dad, which I'll touch on later. And this will be taking place from the year 1980 to 2002, when Milhouse graduates college.
