"How-where did-!" I was lost for words. He chucked and looked up at me, opening his fancey desk drawer and taking out a casing of thick cigars. He spoke as he lit it."It wasn't easy, but it's the least I could do for you. You've been like a son to me, you and Jackson both." He said, his words made me feel something I couldn't explain, but quickly dismissed it as I realized how little there was on me. There was my date of birth, full name, and even the Hospital I was born at. WrythCorp Hospital. But other then that, my file was mostly blank.
"'WrythCorp Hospital'? Where's that?" I asked, looking up to see him blowing smoke rings, his massive feet crossed on his desk, looking relaxed.
"That's right in the city. Owned by a very rich man named, Joshua Wryther." He said, pulling his cigar out of his mouth, making good use of the Golden rimmed ashtray I specifically stole for him on one of my solo jobs, and one of my first.
"Have you read it?" I asked, putting the papers back in the folder so I wouldn't lose them. He nodded and took is feet of his desk, taking a more serious pose. He looked at me sternly.
"I'm not going to lie to you kid, I find it weird that a homeless child seemingly to have no family, would even have a medical file to begin with." He moved back to open his main drawer, and pulled out some papers, handing them to me. I took and examined them. They were missing children reports, spanning from when they first found me, to a few months ago. I looked up at him and and he nodded, as if giving me permission to read them. I slowly turn through the pages of the reports, and my heart began to race.
He must have done thorough research research because all the kids listed on this, their names started with T, and their last name C. There were more missing kids in the area then I imagined but all I could think of is looking for my Name. I slowly began to frantically look through the papers, and a feeling fell over me I couldn't explain. I got to the last page and slowly handed back the papers, and sat back down, feeling defeated. I put his papers back in his desk, walked around towards me, and kneeled down, and hugged me.
I was too stunned to speak. Out of nowhere I began to sob, and wrapped myself his massive arm, and dug my face into his neck. He patted my back and spoke softly to me. "Now, now...There is some good new to this." I regained my composure and wipped my eyes, and let him go. He patted my head and walked back behind his desk and sat down, taking his cigar from his mouth and taking a serious stance again.
"Me, and some of the boys have discovered that Mr. Wryther might be hiding something. We acquired some blueprints that might suggest that there was an underground facility that is no longer functional, and used for storage instead." He spoke with certainty but continued.
"We also think that this hidden facility and your lack of data might be connected. Just a hunch, but it's what were gonna go with." Connected, but why? I thought to myself, not having enough info to even consider working a theory.
"Tora, I've talked to some of my best members, and we've all agreed that if there was ever a time where we wanted to drop in, and take a peek inside, that you should come as well. Your already 12" He said with a sly wink and a grin. My first major heist, and it's going to be one for the record's. I was exited.
"When do you think we'll be heading out?" I was eager to go, I was practically sitting on the edge of my seat as I asked.
"Whenever you're healed and ready to go!" My smile widened and I jumped out of my seat.
"Let's go n-ow..." Landing hard on my feet caused a sharp pain in my lower left side. He laughed at my quick misfortune got up and came around to me, he kneeled down and put his hand on my shoulder.
