A raw, metal taste lingers in Varier's mouth as she coughs violently into her palms. When she removes her hands from her lips, there is a crimson liquid on them as usual. Wiping the blood off her hands with a napkin weakly, she soon gives up trying as her limbs are so fatigued that she feels like she will fall over even if she is poked lightly with a feather.
Leaning back into the mattress, she stares at the pale ceiling blankly. She has been laying here for what feels like an eternity due to an incurable illness that she has, feeling her strength and life slip away as time passes. Every breath she breathes out was like breathing out the remnant of what is left within her, growing more lifeless and tired as the air left her lungs.
At this point, she is only sorry for putting her parents through this. This pain is not only for her, her parents share them with her, watching helplessly as their dear child is being lured away by death.
Varier can't tell when will it be the last time she looks at the ceiling, but she knows it won't take long. Death is waving at her from across the river, murmuring to her gently that it is okay for her to go.
Yes, it will all be fine.
She shuts her eyes gradually and thought. She is tired of this body, so much so that death just seems so appealing to her. There is nothing that she wants anymore, she just wants to rest.
As she lets out one more breath of air, her limbs become so limp that she doesn't have any control over them anymore. For the first time, her body feels really light, so light that she almost thought that she could start flying. It feels good to not feel like thousands of weights are weighing on her every move, eager to drag her into the dirt.
This darkness she is in now will be eternal, and she is ready to go...
Thud!
Varier jumps and almost lets out a yelp as she feels her head bumping into something hard, so hard that it hurts.
Snapping her eyes open, she then blinks, and she blinks harder again.
Where is she? A few snickers are heard from around her as she looks around this strange room filled with people sitting around her, some concentrating on the book lying on the desk in front of her, some glancing at her and chattering softly.
"Miss Varier," a woman's voice rings from behind her, she snaps her toward the direction and saw a familiar yet strange face staring back at her, "please focus on your studies."
Varier quickly realises that she is in a classroom, which only makes her more confused. Wasn't she in her own room and dying just seconds ago? Why is she even here? Did someone use Apparition on her? Even so, she wouldn't be alive.
The world around her starts spinning as she held her head and lets out a soft groan. Faces that were unfamiliar to her start gaining a name, unknown memories rush into her mind as she laid her head on the table, holding her hand up to rub her temples as her head throbs.
'Hey.'
Varier jumps when a voice rings, snapping her out of her forming migraine. Quickly sitting up and looking around, she only meets the strange stares of the other students staring back at her.
'I'm in your head, dummy,' the voice rang again, but this time she doesn't jolt up, 'you must be so confused right now, aren't you dear?'
'No, not really,' Varier thought to herself as she was trying to think of a more polite way to answer the voice.
