Thought I'd never lose it
The shade of your step is still here
You saw me through social and gossip
You're the only one who saw through me
Last time you reached out
It was Christmas eve
You told me about the streets and tragedy
Heard you call again but I didn't pick up
Remember when you took me to the carnival
And you let me buy that dress that they despised
I sat down that day hoping you would be back
Instead, I saw you in that lifeless eyes
Of course I blame myself
You wouldn't have to do this alone
You took all the blame and ripped yourself
I hope you know how beautiful you are
Happy new year, Simon
Didn't know how you holding on out there
Living the lie that you cried for five summers
I hope you get free out there, Simon
