Isla sat outside of school, a book in her hand and a cigarette between her lips. Whispers started to fill the parking lot. Normally she tuned it out but the name she heard couldn't be ignored.
She looked up from the pages, her eyes opening wide at the sight of the brunette. There he best friend was, walking to the building. "Holy shit, Immy, you're back." She ran up to the girl.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked when they pulled apart. "I texted you like a million times." Imogen squinted at her friend. "You never answered."
Isla sighed. "Right uh, couldn't afford the phone bill this month. Got turned off." Imogen frowned slightly, grabbing the girls hand. "Well I'm here now and thats what matters."
"I still wish we could've taken you in." Isla told the girl as they walked towards the school. "Its alright, the family I'm with is nice." Carmine still hadn't noticed the girl walking beside them. "Right, who is that horror film freak you're living with?"
The girl cleared her throat, making them all stop. Imogen sent her friend a look. "This is Tabby, the girl im living with." Isla's eyes went wide. "Oh shit, I didn't realize you were there. I wouldn't have said that to your face."
"She didn't mean anything by it." Imogen tried to convince the frowning girl. "Really I didn't, I'm just naturally a bitch." Isla said, hoping she hadn't offended the girl. "It's fine really. I know I can be kinda obsessed, were cool."
The girls shared a short smile before they entered the building. Isla instantly rolled her eyes at the sight of Karen sitting in front of the door. Her 'vote me for queen' posters surrounding her.
"Oh my god its spirit week?" Imogen whine at all the signs covering the walls. "Not to late to turn back, I have no problem leaving." Isla joked to her friend. The brunette smiled. "Gotta rip the bandaid off at some point."
The girls did their best to sneak past the table, but Karen caught them. "Imogen?" She asked in a fake sweet voice. "Oh my god." The girl muttered turning around.
"I didn't think you'd be back this year." Karen said, setting a hand on her shoulder. "How are you holding up?" She smiled.
Isla scoffed. "You would know Karen if you weren't such a narcissist and cared to check in on her." Tabby snapped at the blonde, earning a grin from Isla. "Get off my ass Tabitha."
"You weren't there okay? It was traumatizing." Karen glared at the two girls. She looked back to Imogen. "You need anything just let me know, kay?" The started to pull her away.
But Karen pulled her into a hug. Isla didnt hear exactly what she said but based on her dark tone and the look on her friends face, she knew it was terrible.
"God Karen why do you have to be such a stuck up cunt?" Isla spit at the blonde once her friend was gone. Karen scoffed, moving closer to the girl. "I'd rather be a stuck up cunt then some trailer trash skank."
Isla filled with anger at her words before she could say anything to the girl someone stepped in. "Don't talk to her that way." Both girls were in shock at the sight of Nate Cameron defending the girl.
"Excuse me?" Karen scoffed at the boy. "Since when did you care about people like her?" As much as the words stung the girl did have a point. Nate was a popular football player who lived in the suburbs. Isla was a loner who lived in the trailer park
But there was a reason he stepped in, that only he and Isla knew. That didn't mean she wasnt shocked at the sight. "It doesn't have to do with me caring about her. It has to do with you being a birch to everyone else."
The blonde shrunk at his words. It was one thing for a nobody to yell at her. But Nate Cameron? People loved him and seeing this could ruin her life.
"Fine, but don't expect prince charming to save you every time." Karen seethed at Isla, bumping her shoulder as she stormed away.
Isla was more focused on the stares that had landed on her and Nate. She quickly shoved him back into an empty classroom. "What the hell was that?" She shouted at him.
"I was getting that bitch to leave you alone, what's wrong with that?" He snapped back. "You're the one that wanted to keep this a secret, Nate. Not me, okay?"
He groaned, running a hand through his hair. "Look, no one likes Karen anyways. And its not like it the first time I've called her out." He defended himself. "But its the first time you've defended me."
Isla wasn't sure if she was saying the words in annoyance or pain. Maybe it was both. "Well if anything makes people talk it was you shoving me into this room." He yelled. She glared at him hard. "Fuck you." She snapped, shoving his chest.
He hand tightened around her wrist as she went for a second push. Their rage filled eyes locked together. Angry heat rolling off both of their bodies. Soon their lips connected.
It was rushed as the teens pulled off their clothes. Trying to keep their moans quiet as the sounds of students got louder from outside the locked door.
Fifteen minutes later Isla was sitting in her painting class. Smoothing down her hair, reapplying her lipstick, wiping the sweat from her body. Hoping that no one would notice her post sex appearance.
Suddenly her phone buzzed with a text. It was an unknown number. She slipped her phone under the edge of her desk, trying to read it discreetly. The words that showed across the screen made her heart drop.
