Asher Channe POV
At the end of the day my brother arrives with dinner for everybody as usual. We and chat and then is time to leave.
DJ-I'm leaving. Are you coming with me?
-Nope. I'm staying for a meeting with my boss.
They all look at me confused but I look at my coworkers.
-Me and her only.
They leave and so is just the two of us alone.
Sara-What do you want?
-I want a vacation and advice.
S-I can fix the vacation for you. The advice, what do you want to ask me about.
-Do you think I'll make a good dad?
S-That..........
She stops and I wait for the shock and the thought to pass.
S-You can be a dad. Perfect doesn't exist but I'm sure you'll be among the best.
-Now then. Give me children advice based on your own child.

Author's note
I don't remember saying it so here it goes. The boss is a lesbian mother. One of the employees is her best male friend who is gay. They had the kid while discovering their sexual orientation. They are both married to their respective couples. She is Sara, he's Michael, baby is 7 year old Seraphina.

S-I think you want this but you also want me to stop you because you're afraid of it.
She holds my knee and I ignore her.
S-Well, how else can I help you? I'm listening.
-I already donated and she's already pregnant. The baby's on the way already but I'm dead nervous.
S-How far along are you exactly?
-I don't spread my life around but she should give birth any minute now. If I disappear, you know why.
S-What are you going to name the baby?
-Hanita, Ingrid and Keilani. I'm having three girls.
This time I can't hide my happiness.
S-Oh my.
-I want them and I'm so excited to meet them.
S-Does your brother know?
-He might but I haven't told him anything yet.
S-Why?
-Not yet. Well, venting session is done and I'm going home.
S-You selfish father.
She slaps my shoulder before she pushes me out of the store. I look back to see her closing the windows and locking the door making me laugh. On my way home I stop by the store and I buy several stuff for the babies. The few that are here look at me confused as I shop.
The first thing on the cart are diapers and wipes. Three car seats that will be delivered home. Blankets of all colors and designs. Red, pink, white, flowers, princesses and ribbons. Several matching outfits. A few plushies and rattles. Bottles for milks and as I look for milk I get stopped.
?-You should grab this one for a newborn instead of that one.
I look at the slightly pregnant woman that spoke.
-Sorry.
?-Newborns usally drink this amount in one go. This is made already so you just have to put the sucker on it.
-Is not your first baby right.
?-Fourth. You.
-First for single father.
I grab several of the one she gave me and she smiles.
-Can I feel your baby?
?-I guess you can.
She turns face to face to me and I just bend down. Her belly is showing but not too big yet. Im afraid so I just lay the tip of my fingers on it. After a moment I rest my hand on it.
-Tell your mom that I'm thankful for the advice. My genius brain went on a vacation when I need it the most so I need help and advice. Thank you.
I pull away and as I go away I can hear her still laughing. I only stop when I get the next item, a bike and a big stroller on the back of it. I really have to buy a car now but I will keep my bike. I go pay, with my personal card so they don't know what I'm doing and I wrap everything so they don't know what my shopping is. The ones I bought online are coming gift wrapped as well.

The next week passes flying as I get my apartment ready for the babies. Is always safe but double checking never hurts. I didn't eliminate the small bedrooms but I installed a lock on their doors and I renovated my room to be their bedroom and my bed to be a giant crib. Now, I sleep on the couch/bed wich is in the hallway between the bathroom door and their bedroom door. I wince by the light and that's when I realize it.
-Damn.
I've been awake all night. I definitely need to crash down and rest. I don't even wait as I just fall asleep as soon as I hit the bed.
I wake up at sunset when the sun waves goodbye with the last rays. I stretch to my full self and yawn. I grab my phone and stroll through it. I got several missed calls but before I can check more I get another incoming call so I answer.
-Hello.
Surrogate-Finally. Where have you been?
-What's happening?
Su-The babies are born. The doctors and nurses been trying to call you for a while now.
-What? But, but, oh no. Wich hospital are you in?
She tells me and as I hang up I get ready to go. I don't even bother with my hair so I just let it loose.
In the hospital I go straight to her room where I don't know if to be angry or relieved because she's still pregnant and she lied to me.
-You lied to me.
Su-You weren't answering your phone so when you answered, I made sure you got here.
-You clever devil.
Su-Now you will see them born.
-Now I'm scared.
Su-Times three.
-So, how you been? How long you been here?
Su-Half a day. I called you to bring me over but I managed with a taxi. I'm fine now.
-Are you sure?
Su-I'm starting to feel hungry and tired but I have to wait until after they're born.
-That's not fair.
She shrugs herself in the bed and we have bits of conversation and TV time between the nurses coming. Time seems eternal as we wait until a bit after midnight when they kick me out and, much to my surprise, she does too and I'm left waiting outside. Now I'm even less calm.

I have no idea how long I have been waiting when they get me. I'm lost counting the dots on the wall.
Doc-Sir Asher.
-Doctor. Can I go in now?
He laughs at me.
Doc-Were you counting the wall?
-Gotta do something to be calm.
Doc-Come on. Is not often that I see a multiple birth. Congratulations. I don't always meet the father or speak to them but you, you're different. Surrogates are mostly hired by couples, the single ladies get sperm donors and the rare ones are like you.
His praising, his smile and his endless talking seem to hide something so I ask.
-Something happened didn't it.
Doc-She died.
-What happened?
Doc-Exhaustion. The first baby was born fine. The second baby was a challenge as she died as soon as she was born and the third baby had do be cesarean. No damage to the babies but we acted more quickly on the moment than actually thinking before acting so I was worried.
-You want to ask me something.
Doc-We looked and she has nobody but you so, maybe you can bury her. I know she's a surrogate but still. I have to ask.
-She was supposed to breastfeed them for the first six months at least. So I got six months of her and my daughters will ask for her eventually. I will do it, she was nice to me and I know what to tell them when they ask.
Doc-Thank you.
He opens the door for me and I am greeted by three nurses feeding one of my babies each. I walk seeing them and ask for them.
-Who is the eldest?
Nur-Here. You want to hold her?
-Feed her.
The nurse passes me the baby and then the bottle. Baby tries to make a fuss when I get her but stops when I get her to eat. Dark hair and purple eyes. I like that.
Nur-What are their names? We have to register them.
-The eldest is Blanca Estela. Second baby is Brisa Zale and then Bella Faith. When can I take them home?
Nur-A few hours at most.
-Can I keep two nurses with me?
That takes them by surprise and I sigh.
Nur-We had fixed for one to stay with you.
-That's alright, I can get a nanny hired. I was asking just in case.
I carry the three of them while doing their paperwork and the nurses help out with two and everything else. They were born on August 3. We went home late in the afternoon since I had the babies paperwork and their dead surrogate mother paperwork.
Once I'm home with the babies the nurses bid farewell except for the one that stays to help me with the babies and I turn to her.
-I wasn't expecting a nurse to stay with me so there's not much. I customized my bed to be their crib, you can take the couch and I'll be using the sleeping bag. Your name.
LA-Lily Ann but you can call me Lily.
-Well, what do you think? Lily.
LA-I don't mind sharing. I only mind when I'm actually using it.
-Great. The sleeping comfort.
LA-I'm a nurse, I can sleep anywhere or not.
-Then I'll cook something for us. I should have enough for a proper meal.
LA-I'll put them on the crib and help you out.
I nod and she grabs the babies to bed as I see what's left on the fridge. I might need to use it all. This is a long term friendship.

Drake Jayr POV
I wake up by the girls crying again. I'm still not used to this newfound paternity.

Four days before
I find myself resting outside as I eat my lunch for the day. Is nice to have a break from all this work, the only thing is the woman that comes to me later on.
W-Drake!!! Take what's yours, I'm leaving.
She gets to hand me backpacks and few stuff before I hold her.
-Hey, hey, hey, wait a moment. What's all this.
W-That is your baby so I'm leaving it with you.
-Wait. Give me a reason, a valid reason.
W-Is your baby. Isn't that reason enough for you? I already tried the other possible fathers except you but you're hard to find.
-Are you abandoning her?
W-Of course I am. I don't want kids. Is yours so you have it. I'm leaving, now let me go.
She frees herself from my grip and I'm too shocked to stop her. I just watch her leave just as quickly as she came.

Present day
I feed the baby girl on my arms and I wonder why do I love her already. I did the paternity test and she is my daughter but even before the test I was attracted to her. I can't find the mother and I truly don't care but the baby girl, she was abandoned and in bad health too. I had to do all the paperwork for her. She's one month, she's vaccinated and I named her Astrid. I take her to work with me although with her I focus more on paperwork and customer service. I got out of the kitchens for now.
