"Oh my god" I thought shooting up out of bed. Today was the day. We are officially moving to Derry, Maine today, June 24 1989. I was so nervous but excited at the same time. My Mom's childhood friend lived in the neighborhood that we were moving to and apparently she had a son around my age. I guess new friends wouldn't be that bad.

Time skip a few hours later
We're here. The plane slowly starts point downwards until we hit the ground. I opened the overhead board and grabbed all my stuff. My brother Stanley had slept the whole plane ride even though there was really bad turbulence. He's always been a pretty deep sleeper so we had trouble getting him up.

Once we had finally made it out of the airport we started driving to our new house. I may have shed a tear thinking about our old house but I'm so ready for new beginnings. In my old town Lenora Hills, CA I would constantly get bullied by this one girl named Angela. She would pick on me, call me names, and one time even put up posters of an ugly picture of me. God I hated her. But right now she's the least of my worries.

I could barely contain my excitement knowing i'm about to step foot into my new home.

The car ride was about an hour so I decided to read a bit. There was this new book I was really into called "Heartstopper" (a/n im so sorry 😭). It's about two gay boys who fall in love just like any other romance story. Of course in the back Stanley was sound asleep his noodle like hair resting on his forehead. The car suddenly came to a stop just for me to look up and see a small beige home perfect for a family of 3. My dad had left when I was younger but thats a whole other situation. Right now I was focused on exploring our brand new home.

I made my way down the set of stairs to see my mom making dinner. That immediately sparked my attention as I was practically starving. She told me she was just making quesadillas as she didn't have much time due to unpacking. I wasn't complaining tho because she made the best quesadillas ever. I took a bite into the steamy quesadilla and immediately starting digging in. My mom finally spoke up "Later tonight we are going to meet up with my friend just to say hi. You know the one in the neighborhood?" I didn't really want to go with them but I knew I didn't have a way out of it. "Okay" was all I said. Stan on the other hand was super excited and he was practically jumping around in his seat. I think it's because there's a boy his age maybe.

*******

We walked up to the neighbors house and my mom planted three knocks on the door. After a few seconds a beautiful mom and a smaller boy opened the door. Mom said the boy was around Stans age but he looked rather.. small. He wasn't who caught my attention tho. I couldn't look away from his big mother standing in the doorway....
