Mount Gemmers Destruction

In the beginning there existed a lone island, and the many gods looked down upon it with content. The island boasted a great mountain called the Ancient One, and around it's base existed much prosperity.

One day the god Ish became frustrated that no humans would worship him. He turned to BaldUnleashed, the most popular god of all, and demanded that he teach the humans to worship him instead, when Bald refused, ish began to bribe the humans to gain their favor.

The other gods were furious at his disregard for ancient customs, and so punished Ish by renaming the Ancient One Mount Gemmer, shaming ish for centuries in the eyes of the humans. With each passing decade fewer humans accepted the bribes and appeared in the temple.

Ish became so furious that he descended from the heavens and crushed the mountain into three parts for revenge. He picked up the shattered bits of Mount Gemmer in his hand and with them many humans who had once lived on the mountain.

Casting the first chunk into the ocean he declared: "If the humans will not worship me, then they shall worship thirst!" And so he scorched the newly formed island, creating an endless desert.

Casting the second chunk he shouted: "If the humans will not see me in my temples, then they shall not see the sun!" And so he created the jungle, where no light may pierce the trees.

Casting the third chunk he cried in shame: "If the humans will not love me, then they shall not know warmth in their hearts nor food in their bellies." And so he created the inhospitable tundra.

The other gods did not sit idle as Ish destroyed the great mountain however. Rushing down from the heavens they did all they could to save those at it's base, and seizing Ish they dove into the ocean and buried him in a tomb created of their own bodies.

All that remains of the great mountain is a lake, and it's surrounding prosperous island that once made the base of mount gemmer. Three new islands had formed and the humans adapted to the suffering imposed on them. The bodies of the gods formed a fifth island that had never been found, but that is for the best as it is said visiting it could release Ish back unto the world.

Though we live far from peace today, the people of the plains remember that it was unity among the gods that saved them from Ish that day, and so they swear to never be divided, and to remember the strength of the mountain lives on in their brothers and sisters of the Plains.
