"Turning 17...even more judgement and pain to come..."

I rolled over to lay on my back against my bed, and stared at the turquoise painted ceiling of mine. Sighing of boredom, I glanced over to my journal, that I had got from my parents an early birthday present, that laid beside me on my bed. Retrieving it, I opened it to a clean page, and started writing with my black ink pen.

Hey journal,
I got you just a couple of minutes ago, so I want to take the free time I have to write 'in' you I guess you can say. Well, I have an introduction of me so you will know me now. For starters, my full name is Chase Stephen Lei Nichols and I'm going to turn 17 in a day, but officially a day and some hours, along with minutes and seconds. Most people, I believe, would be happy that they get a day to celebrate about themselves; on the other hand, I don't enjoy it cause all I get celebrated with is more restrictions, punishments, and more secrets for me to keep. The biggest secret I have is that my whole identity is a huge fucking lie, and the signs are starting to show. Most people at my school think I'm one of the coolest and most popular guy in school that gets good grades, and his parents are really proud of him. I'm starting to develop on my chest, but my parents try to cover it up by wrapping gauze around me. I have more curves than a guy should have. Mommy and daddy always wanted a sweet, little boy, but they weren't satisfied with what they got. So, they turned me into what they believe they have; it won't be long until they are slapped by reality. It seems reality is catching up with them because my "punishments" have gotten more brutal. Also, my dad has been giving me looks of lust that I don't crave. My best friend, Aliniya is the only one who knows my secret, and has kept it for 13 years, for my sake, and so will you and I. Also, she shares the passion of the music and bands we listen to; my current favorite is Black Veil Brides. I've discovered been listening to them since they first came out and they've helped me through a lot; without their music, I doubt I'll still be alive today. My huge problem is that my parents don't like or appreciate them, and to think that they have a concert on my birthday. Well, I can't dwell on you for long, but there is one more thing I have to tell you. My real name is Cheri Stephanie Lee Nichols and I'm a girl.

Sighing, I read it over to see what I wrote, only to have it be snatched out of my hand. I looked up at the suspect that stole my private possession, only to stare in the eyes of my dad.

Taking his eyes off of me and focusing on the newly written section, I ducked my head and squinted my eyes shut. Taking a peeking chance, my dad was smirking and glanced back at me, causing me to look back down and squint my eyes shut again.

"My my. Such bad words shouldn't come out of a young lady's mouth", I was taken aback, for he addressed me as a female, in this case, a young lady.

"Young ladies are punished for this type of thing."

My eyes were wide open with terror, as he sat down and prounced on me while I was on the bed. I started screaming and shouting for help while he just laughed.

"No one is home you little --"
"Richard?!" I heard my mom shout from downstairs.

Abruptly, he raised off of me and gave me a menacing look saying 'tell and see what happens'. My mom entered the room and had a questioning look on her face, while my dad stood up and handed her my journal.

"Richard! This is his private belonging that I gave to him for him to only look at. I don't care what it says in there and you shouldn't either. Give it back to him," she declined the journal while dad handed it back to me.

She sighed and gave me a small smile, "Chase we need to talk."

She sat down next to me and stared at me, which made me feel uneasy. She pulled out six tickets to the Black Veil Brides. I stared at her in confusion and started pinching myself and rubbing my eyes to see if I was dreaming.

"Fuck it!" I pulled her into a huge hug and started screaming, but she just pushed me off.

"That's not how my son will act," she gave me a stern look while I just held down my head and blushed in embarrassment.

She lifted my chin up and smiled.

"Happy birthday Chase."
