Vidar

Vidar sat on a rock and watched Lagertha and Gyda try to catch some fish with their wooden spears. Gyda, the young girl, shot the spear forward, but missed.

"I missed." Gyda said, sounding a little dejected.

Lagertha, the girl's mother, saw her target. "Here's one." She shot the spear forward and pulled a fish out. "Come on. Let's go home." She then turned to Vidar. "This would have gone a lot faster if you helped."

Vidar smirked. "Who says I didn't?" He turned back to the water. "Gyda." He said softly. He nodded to the water where a fish sat perfectly still.

The girl's eyes widened, and she shot the spear forward hitting her mark. "I got it!"

Vidar chuckled and Lagertha looked at her daughter with pride.

Vidar looked down into the water. He saw his tanned skin and bright blue eyes staring back at him. He was a giant of a man, with long black hair and scruffy beard. He also had a scar over his right eyebrow. He moved his hair out of his face and looked towards his weapon that was stabbed into the ground. His trident.

The three of them walk up the hill and Vidar can hear the sound of a sword hitting a shield. He looked over and saw Bjorn try to hit his father, Ragnar, with his wooden sword. Ragnar caught it, pulled it from the boy, and then threw it on the ground.

Bjorn glared at his father and went to reach down to pick the sword up. Ragnar took a step forward and made Bjorn flinch back. "Watch." Ragnar said, pointing to himself.

Bjorn nodded and lifted his shield high and kept his eyes on his father as he picked his sword up. Ragnar then started to swing at him, and Bjorn struggled to keep his shield up. Vidar chuckled and leaned against the tree. Ragnar stopped hitting the shield and pulled it down to look his son in the eye, then he pushed the shield forward and knocked him in the head.

Bjorn got angry and swung wildly at his father while Ragnar laughed. "If you two are done we should get ready." Vidar called out.

Ragnar nodded and led Bjorn back to the house. There he got Bjorn dressed in warm furs when Lagertha walked in. "What are you two doing?"

"Vidar and I are taking Bjorn to the Thing tomorrow." Ragnar answers.

"Not yet." Lagertha says walking over. "He's not old enough."

"He's twelve years old." Vidar reminded.

"Take him next year." Lagertha ordered. "Next year is soon enough."

"He'll need a silk ribbon, Lagertha." Ragnar says, ignoring her worries. He looks back to his son and smiles. "You're a handsome boy. Funny ears, though." He says playing with his ears a bit. Ragnar walks away as Lagertha checks over her son's ears.

"I'll leave you two to say your goodbyes." He walks away and then looks to Lagertha. "That blond woman with the brown eyes."

Lagertha scoffs. "What makes you think she likes you?"

Vidar smirks. "Just a hunch."

He walks out of the house and towards the farm hand huts along the beach. There he sees the girl he was looking for. "Anselma?" He asks.

The girl turns to him and blushes. "H-hello Vidar."

The man smiles kindly at her and walks toward her. The woman sucks in a breath and looks up at him. "I could use your help." He says. He lifts his hand up to cup her chin and tilt it up to look her in the eye. "Can you help?"

The woman nods her head and Vidar leans down to kiss her. She lifts her hands to wrap around his neck, he then grabs her by the thighs and lifts her up not breaking the kiss. He leads her to her bed while stripping her from her clothes. He throws her on the bed and takes his shirt off, revealing his black tattoos that cover his torso and arms.
