Chapter 2 - Escape [1]

KRISTA'S POV

He had saved me. The boy I now know as Eren Yeager. My hero. It's not like me to be social with people and I still will not but this boy he was something else. He saved me from a painful demise at the hands of the Titans.

As we slowed down near the wall he spoke to me and asked my name. I didn't respond for the first few minutes but as we neared the boats I shakily said "Um, m-m-my name is Krista Lenz."

The only things that kept my mind in tact were me not even knowing the current situation and his hold on me. Comforting me, making me feel warm and safe even during this time of terror. I peeked out from under my jacket taking in more of his features. Long brown hair and a tall stature that carried maturity most likely gained from a current experience. The most breathtaking feature however was his green eyes. They glowed like an emerald even though I had never even seen one except for my mothers necklace.

My hero, Eren Yeager. The man who saved me from an undignified demise at the hands of a lumbering giant.

ERENS POV:

I whispered to Krista quietly as we approached the gates so I wouldn't bring any nearby titans to my area. "We need to get on the boat or we will never make it out."

She didn't respond and I could only assume she was still shell shocked at the situation we were in. The gates to the docks were open and people squeezed through trying to get on the boats. They never made it. At that point I was desperate and had grabbed Krista's hand while sprinting towards the boat trying to make sure we could make it out of the hell hole alive.

Krista replied to the gesture with a small squeak as we left the wall behind. As we arrived at the ships opening I spotted Armin, Mikasa and Hannes waiting at the edge of the boat as others pushed pass trying to leave. Mikasa was pale and had no emotions showing on her face but I knew better. Armin was on the verge of tears whilst Hannes looked like he was about to blow. Krista followed me towards the group and we stopped before I said "Well, what do we do now?"

The group I knew well didn't even have time to respond as we were all pushed onto the boat by Hannes. He gestured towards the open space on the side of the boat. We all took a seat but I noticed Krista had gotten a splinter from the shattered buildings along the way that was jutting out from her knee. It was obviously fresh and it pained me to realize that I had been the cause as I roughly pulled her along.

Mikasa finally dropped her emotionless facade and started hitting me. I let every blow connect. Letting her get her anger and emotions out now was the best choice and guaranteed one less person to deal with once we escaped. She yelled at me and continued her onslaught as Krista sat blushing in embarrassment.

"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?" The roar from Mikasa startled many before she started crying. I wrapped my arms around her and re assured her that I was indeed alive and still before her. She then finally took notice of Krista in the corner who was now sobbing gently because of the splinter.

"Mikasa, Armin this is Krista."

"She lived nearby and was almost taken out by a titan." I calmly said. Mikasa immediately knew something was wrong and asked where my mother was. I gritted my teeth and responded softly.

"She's dead Mikasa. She's gone and she is never coming back." Mikasa broke down and hugged me tightly not letting go. Krista sat their sobbing at the recollection of her mother also being slaughtered. Armin was shocked and was sitting down with his blonde hair overshadowing his eyes.

I turned around towards the gate wondering when the boats would head off but a sudden yelling caught my attention. Guards were sprinting away from the wall. Large footsteps echoed on the concrete as the squirming mass of people went silent.

There was a small boom and the gate exploded once again showering debree across the town. While this was happening the boats started moving. I watched as people jumped in the water and drowned in fear of being eaten alive. The huge titan that had broken through the wall looked sinister. It stood at least 16 meters and was armored from head to toe in large gray plates. From this day it would be known as the armored titan.

No cannons or swords could pierce it's flesh. However death did not strike us that day. The boats had already reached the next gate as I watched titans varying in size, shape and figure flood in through the broken gate.

While once again it was a mass slaughter we finally had escaped.
