ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ MICHI LET OUT A SOFT GRUMBLE, PUTTING HER PENCIL DOWN ON THE TABLE
"why does math have to be so hard?" she whined, as she looked back her best friend, vai, who was cleaning out their locker across the classroom. they sighed, putting their textbook down on the table in front of them and walking over to michi's desk.
"y'know, it's not so hard when you actually focus is class." they said, looking down at her paper, "which part are you struggling with?"
"all of it."
"you did that part right. it's the same thing over here."
"no it's not. that's stupid, vai." she said with a scoff, watching them neatly scribble down the working for the question as she watched in awe.
"there. you have one more, you can do it." they told her, before going back to their locker to finish cleaning.
"how much longer?"
"fifteen minutes until lunch is over. hurry up so we can go eat."
she nodded, quickly finishing off the last question before slamming her book shut in triumph. michi gathered her things, arranging them neatly into her backpack, running over to her locker to stuff it inside.
"okay, okay. let's go."
vai nodded, putting a hand on her shoulder and leading her out of the classroom.

she sighed, watching the seconds on the clock tick by. there was just five minutes before the torture would end. five minutes until the weekend.
"alright class, listen up." mrs tran spoke up, gaining everyone's attention, "since there's five minutes left, i think we should pick partners for the project?"
a hum of agreement came across the classroom. the project in question here was a presentation. the students were meant to create an oral on something that peaked their interest. this was right up michi's ally. although english never really was her thing, she had to admit, she was excited for this. not only was the topic broad enough for her to talk about anything she liked, but she really did enjoy oral presentations. she loved talking in general. even if she was failing at every other part of english, orals were perfect for her.
she looked over at vai, giving them the 'be my partner?' look. they nodded, before turning their attention back up to the front.
"so, i will be picking your partners." mrs tran said, everyone in the class groaning and whining in disagreement.
great. mrs tran hated michi. she definitely wouldn't be pairing her up with vai. she waited patiently, silently wallowing in self pity whilst she waited for mrs tran to pair her up with whatever other nimrod in her class.
"michi. you and minsol."
minsol. of course, she thought to herself with a soft grunt. the one person michi had never even spoken to. so of course, it made complete sense for that bitch of a teacher, mrs tran, to partner her up with-
"michi?"
she jolted out of her trance, looking up at minsol, who stood tall and smiley in front of her.
it was almost as if she was okay with working with her.
but minsol was popular and extremely well off, she was probably dreading having to work with michi on the inside.
"hi, i don't think we've really ever talked. i'm really excited to work with you! i loved your last presentation, it was amazing."
"oh, thank you."
huh. she was nice.
whatever, michi thought. it was probably all an act anyway.
"here, type your number in so we can talk about the project." she said, taking her phone out for michi to give her number to her. she nodded awkwardly, taking the phone and quickly pressing the digits of her number.
and alas, the bell rang. school was out and michi could finally leave school and forget about this for the entire weekend.
