I shift in my seat as my mom literally rips out my hair. She begged me to let her put it in a braid...but I'm not gonna have any hair left by the time she's done.

"Stop moving. I'm almost done." She says.

I groan, "You got the paint, right? For my room?"

"Yeah. I hope it's the color you wanted."

I'm bored of my room, so I'm redecorating it. I'm going to paint a lavender accent wall, and the rest will stay off-white.

"Okay, I'm finished." She smiles.

"Finally!" I hop off the chair and grab a glass of water.

"Can Walker come over and help me?"

"Yeah, that's fine."

I nod and put my glass in the sink. She hands me her phone, and I text Walker.

I gave my mom her phone back and went up to my room. I opened the can of paint and started painting. I already laid out all the tarps and everything. Hopefully, this looks somewhat decent when I'm finished.

"Hey, Kady." Walker smiles.

"Hi! What do you think? Does it look good so far?" I ask, motioning to the wall.

"No, it looks horrible."

I roll my eyes, "Wow. Thank you so much."

He laughs, and I hand him a paintbrush.

"Why are you changing your room?"

"I don't know, I just got tired of it," I say.

He nods, "Are you excited about your date?"

"I guess."

He smirks.

"Okay, yeah. I'm really nervous, though."

"Don't be. It'll be great." He says.

"But what if it's not??"

"Then, it's not." He shrugs.

I sigh, "What if he doesn't like me, and then it's just super awkward."

"He's gonna like you. How could someone not like you? You're amazing."

I blush.

He puts his arm around my shoulder.

I look at him and smile.

He grabs the paintbrush and touches my cheek with it.

"Walker!" I exclaim.

I try to rub the paint off, but it's just smearing everywhere.

I splatter paint on his shirt.

He giggles and splatters more paint on me.

"Okay, enough."

"Fine." He puts his brush down.

I splatter paint on him again, and he scoffs.

"Kady!" He grabs me, and I squeal.

"What are you guys doing?" My mom laughs.

"Nothing." I bite my lip. Walker still has his arms around me.

"You better not get paint on everything." She says.

"We won't."

She nods and closes the door.

Walker and I look at each other and laugh.

"Thanks for helping me."

"No problem." He smiles.

"I kinda have to go get ready...It's almost 12:00."

I'm honestly kinda sad I have to go. Like I want to...but at the same time, I really want to stay here with Walker.

"Okay, Let me know how everything goes."

I nod, and he walks out of my room.

TIME SKIP —

"Bye, Mom. Love you."

"I love you too."

She closes the door, and I follow Matt down the sidewalk. We're going to the park to have a picnic.

"You look really nice." He says.

"Thank you. So do you." I smile.

It gets kind of quiet...and awkward.

"What kind of music do you like?" He asks.

"Uhm, I really like Lily Allen."

"Cool. Do you play any sports?"

"Nope. I used to play volleyball...I broke my wrist, though, and I never got back into it. How about you?"

"I play hockey."

I nod, "That's really cool."

"Yep."

We arrived at the park and found a sunny spot in the grass. Matt laid a blanket down, and set out some sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies. We both sit down and start eating.
