"Okay kiddies get your jumpers, jackets and whatever else you will need to keep warm! We're going for a run!" Of course coach Hood would be enthusiastic.
Harry and I stay where we are as we were smart enough to wear our jumpers already. Ashton, being the "tough guy" he is apparently doesn't need a jumper, he's fine in his soccer kit.
---
Eventually everyone has settled on their jumpers or whatever they want to wear, and the hall is almost full again. I glance over to where Rachel and her "friends" are stood. Sadie and Rebecca had some common sense at least and grabbed a hoodie to wear over the top of their tight, bright, lycra sport tank tops. However Rachel seems to think she doesn't need a jumper, as she flaunts herself around in her bright pink tank top and black three-quarter leggings. Her only source of heat, the fake hug she is receiving from Sadie.
"I wish I could pull off a lycra like that." Harry speaks up from beside me.
"Yeah, as much as I hate to admit it, she has got an okay figure, well what they call a "perfect model figure" what with her blonde hair, flat stomach and blue eyes." I seethe, as much as I hate her, she just has to be pretty, well the popular girls always are right? They're not like me, glasses, acne prone skin and flat, lifeless hair. Although, I'm not one of those annoying people that always compare themselves and their bad traits to the popular pretty girls. Although, a lot of my inner thoughts include things like that.
"Is he running too?" Ashton glares towards the door, I turn to find coach Hood walking through the door, I didn't even notice him leave.
He walks in wearing black sweatpants and a gray tank top with 'ARMY' scrawled across the front, along with a gray hoodie slung over his shoulder. He glances around the hall nodding approvingly at the majority of students that would rather keep warm than die of hypothermia, not that they would but still! It's a possibility.
As his eyes scan over Rachel, his forehead creases as he raises his brows at her lack of clothes.
"Right then!" He shouts, gaining everybody's attention.
"I see most of you are ready, now Rachel?"
A sickly sweet smile spreads across her face as she turns to face him, "Yes Coach?" She pouts slightly and leans against a wall.
"Get a jumper on, otherwise you might as well freeze to death in that skimpy items I wouldn't even call clothing." He says, gaining eyes the size of the moon from Rachel, and just about everybody else in the room. But, all good things must come to an end, and Rachel has to ruin every good moment.
"How about I borrow your jumper then sir?" She smirks.
"Why, do you want me to freeze to death instead?!" He fakes a hurt expression as Rachel is left speechless.
"Well I'll take that as a no, come on young ones, it is time to show you the route." I hear a few chuckles as he directs us all over to the big whiteboard mounted on one of the walls.
"Right then, we will all split up into groups, I don't mind if you want to walk or run, that's your choice, but just remember that you'll be late home if you do walk. I want groups of at least six. Don't lose a member of your group, do not reroute, do not take shortcuts. Trust me I will know. Each group will be assigned a stopwatch, each of them are numbered and programmed so you can't tamper with them or change the time on them. Now group up then I'll tell you where to go." He turns back to us from facing the board and smiles as we all shuffle around.
Ashton, Harry and I stand together looking like idiots as we watch everyone disperse into groups. Ashton and I walk forward from Harry in search of someone to group with, I turn around to find Harry speaking to two people, whos backs are turned to me.
"Hey Scar, Tilly and Saph want to join us, is that fine?" He asks as I walk over to them.
"No Harry it's not fine that the only two other friends I have - well I hope they class me as a friend - want to group with us." I say, my voice laced with sarcasm. Harry's face drops and Ashton begins laughing quietly from behind me.
"Harry I was joking you idiot." I giggle.
"Um..oh uh yeah so was I, see ha ha" he sticks his hands up by his head, shaking them in a jazz dance style.
"Well that was hilarious Haz, now we only have five people and it's supposed to be groups of six guys." I point out as I move closer to the group.
"I'm guessing you guys need another member?" A deep voice says from behind us all. I turn around to come face to face with, you've guessed it, coach Hood. Subconsciously, my mouth opens slightly as I take in everything about him. That shirt looks even better close up, his very prominent muscles showing as he grips onto the blue tray full of stop-watches and whiteboard markers.
"Y-yeah we do sir." Harry intervenes, taking in the view aswell.
"Good, because I need a group. Yes, I am running aswell before anyone says anything." He concludes, I guess he's our sixth member. "Oh and don't forget you'll need to keep up with me."
He looks around the room before nodding and walking towards the board, signaling for us to follow suit.
"So class." He blows his whistle to get the attention of every student. "Stand in your groups so I can write them on the board and you can all write your times on beside your name.
---
After about twenty five minutes I stop running to catch my breath, and change the song playing through my earphones.
"Scarlett, I didn't think you would give up so easily." Coach Hood smirks as I regain my breath.
"I don't run sir, I don't do pe." I deadpan.
"Well Scarlett, if you're not going to participate, I'm giving you a detention. Since this is Friday, it can wait until Monday, stay behind at home time then I'll tell you what you have to do."
ugh idek what i'm doing anymore, like yeah i have ideas and shiz but idk if this stories going anywhere. like nobody reads it so i'm guessing it's rly bad or something, i dunno if i'm gonna keep goin or not...
