Just The Beginning

Chapter 3- Surprise?

     Ava POV

     We ring the doorbell and the door opens in an instant. Iris looks a bit too happy to see us.

     "Omg you guys thanks for coming over. You have to taste these new cupcakes I made. It's a really good flavor!!!" she says really happily.

     "Yeah no problem," I say. 

     From the inside of the room I hear Ryan say "Ughh what are you two doing here?"

     "Nice to see you too," Irene says laughing as we take off our shoes. 

     We enter the house and what we see definitely shocks us. There, in the living room, is Ryan sitting with his friends aka the popular boys. We're decent friends with them...or at least I am. Irene is actually pretty close with all of them. Most the popular guys do choir so she knows them from that. I can tell Irene is as shocked as I am. And they looked pretty shocked too. They know we're friends with Ryan, just not close enough to randomly walk into his house. 

     In his living room is Blake, Aiden, Lukas, Grant, Matthew, Ari, Brogan, Devin and Tommy sitting there eating snacks looking at us like they saw ghosts. Honestly it was pretty funny. Until we realized that Lukas and Aaron were there. I have this huge crush on Aaron and Irene really liked Lukas. Me and Irene just looked at each other, the boys, and then back at each other. We were trying really hard not to smile and start laughing. 

     We all just look around awkwardly and thankfully Ryan breaks it knowing that we felt awkward about it.

     "WHO'S READY FOR THE CELTICS TO WIN!!!" he screams. We're all pretty hardcore Celtic fans.

     Irene and I head into the kitchen along with Iris and Ryan follows along. There in the kitchen is Matthew and their parents, Jeff and Lori. They never let us call them Mr and Mrs Drasnin. But the best thing is the beautifully iced cupcakes sitting on the island of the kitchen. Iris was a pro at baking and fashions. She loves making new desserts and cute dresses for us. 

     "Ok, Ava. Irene. I want you guys to taste split this cupcake and taste is and tell me what you think," Iris tells us.

     "Can I taste," Ryan asks. And from the look on Matthew's face, he definitely wanted to ask too.

     "No," Iris says smiling innocently.

     "Babe, I'm your boyfriend. You should let me," Matthew says looking at Iris with puppy eyes.

     "And I'm your boyfriend's favorite brother," Ryan says.

     "Ryan, you're Matthew's only brother," she says rolling her eyes. "And anyway, you guys aren't real taste testers. Ava and Irene give me real feedback. 

     Irene and I split the cupcake and taste it and to say it was amazing would be an understatement. It was a caramel brownie cupcake with walnuts and the icing was a caramel buttercream icing with candied pecan on the top. And the hint of salt in it made it even better. And we told Iris all of that. That cupcake was good. It was really good. And Ryan and Matthew sat there watching us eat it. 

     "Are you gonna stay here a bit?" Matthew asks.

     We were about to say no when Ryan butts in and says, "Yeah they are. They'll leave a bit before the game."

     Irene and I stare at him in confusion when he starts smirking at us. That's when we realize. He wants us to stay because Aaron and Lukas are over. We roll our eyes and make our way to living room where the boys are sitting acting like idiots. Max and Erma, the dogs, follow us into the living room and sit down next to us on the floor. When we sit down we can see the guys get really quite. And Lukas and Aaron definitely trying really hard not to make eye contact with us. Weird.
