CHAPTER 2

"I don't know what to do with you," Chenle sighed in displeasure, taking a bite of the sandwich they packed earlier.

"You don't have to do anything," Danielle replied between chews. "No one is getting hurt."

"Here in the school premises, sure. But what about outside?" Chenle shot her a pointed look. "Jaewook is a wild alpha, Elle. Just like the other alphas you've argued with. Let me remind you, they are still alphas. One stomp on their pride, and you're dead."

She shrugged, unconcerned. "You can't force me to be a 'good little omega,' Le. Remember when we first presented? When our classmates bullied us for being the only omegas in our section?"

Chenle sighed, rubbing his temple. "I know where you're coming from, but..." He turned to her with a softer gaze. "You also need to know when to back out if needed. I don't want you to get hurt, Elle—physically or emotionally."

Danielle opened her mouth to argue, but before she could, a classmate called out, "Yoon and Zhong, someone's looking for you."

The two immediately turned to see who it was. Before Danielle could react, a strong force pulled her into a tight hug, making her yelp in surprise.

"Lele told us—my god, you, Danielle Yoon!" Giselle nagged, her grip firm. "Where's Mark? At least tell me he saved you?"

"He showed up before a bloodbath could happen," Danielle chuckled, wiggling free from the female alpha's grasp. "But I didn't need saving!"

Giselle tuts. "Jaewook got called to the dean's office. He went berserk when he saw Jungwoo with Miyeon. You could've gotten seriously hurt!"

"Why does everyone think I'm fragile?"

Giselle sighed, then grabbed Danielle's cheeks, squishing them. "Danielle, my dearest. I know you're braver than most omegas, but let me remind you—there are things an alpha can do that you won't be able to fight off. Dominance."

Danielle rolled her eyes, and Giselle responded by squeezing harder.

"So do me a favor and lessen that omega pride?"

"Aym nowt dzoing onothing!" Danielle protested through squished cheeks.

Giselle let go, turning to Chenle. "You're right. I don't know what to do with her either."

"Giselle, why aren't you in class?"

The three turned toward the familiar voice. Mark Lee stood nearby, his gaze briefly scanning Danielle, noticing her red cheeks.

His brows furrowed. "And what happened to your face?"

"I squeezed those adorable and stubborn cheekies! Want to try too?" Giselle teased, making Mark roll his eyes.

"Break time's over. Go back to class."

"Oppa," Giselle blocked his way, a sly grin on her face. "My lovely best friend is very brave and very pretty. But she tends to get into trouble. Can you pull her out of it?"

Mark remained expressionless.

"Hm?" Giselle pouted, batting her eyelashes dramatically.
