The doctor stared at his journal. He thought of what to write, though he couldn't think of anything. He just kept staring and staring, the tick of his pen being the only sound filling the room barely lit by a candle to his right. He swore he could hear his heartbeat, though if he weren't so into his thoughts at the moment he would've noticed the mask coming in. He scratched his head and, as he did this, he shuddered as a pair of pale hands gripped his shoulders, yet he couldn't tell who it was until he heard the voice.
"Dinner is ready, doctor."
In an attempt to protest, he looked up at the exquisite, yet unsettling mask which just smiled at him. "I don't need to eat, dearest." He smiled sweetly at him, even if in his head he was anything but smiling.
"What happened to "I'm starving, Dyo- when's dinner?", I made your dinner. Come eat it."
Upon hearing the exact words he said to Dyo, he sighs and gets up, letting dyo get a quick peek at his journal and it worried him. He reached and held his hand, kissing his cheek as he took him downstairs as his plate was already ready for him. The doctor kissed his cheek and sat down next to Dyo, who had his plate on the counter. He took off his coat to not get food on it and grabbed his fork before he began eating.
"What is this?" he asks as he looks over at Dyo, who seemed to be zoning out. Shrugging, he finishes his food and gets up to put his plate in the washer before dyo grabs him.
"Wait, Doctor." He utters to him as the doctor looks down at him.
"Yes?" He raises an eyebrow, and Dyo sighs. "I saw your journal, are you okay?" The doctor chuckles and kisses his head, nodding before going up to his office with a knot in his throat. As soon as he got into his chair, he broke down. He began sobbing into his hands, scratching at his face as he sobs, before eventually looking up after getting calmed down a bit. He opened his window and put on his boots, climbing out of the window and climbing off of the roof before running. It was only about 6 minutes later that he got to a river. He sighed and took off his boots and socks, breathing heavily before getting into the river and feeling the cold water on his legs and arms. Smiling a bit from the feeling of relief, he began to swim against the river flow. He swims absent-mindedly, before laying back and letting the stream pull him back home. After he got back home, he went to his office. In the river he had thought of a few ideas, so, smiling, he writes them down. As he writes, Dyo walks in and hugs him tightly, the burn of acid from his mask on the doctor's skin.
"Oh Dyo, were you crying?.." He asks, holding the mask's mask in his thumb and finger, kissing its cheek
"What? no.." He whimpered softly as he hugged him tightly. "Go shower then come to our room, I'm tired." He spoke softly into the doctor's ear, obviously having a sore throat as he nodded and kissed his head before getting up and going across the hall to the bathroom where he turned on the shower and finished his undressing from before, then getting in and letting the water burn his back. After he got out about 10 minutes later, he went downstairs and into the room, where Dyo was crying. He laid down next to him and pulled him close, Dyo hugging him. "You worried me.. so much... did you not hear my calls?" And the doctor didn't want to lie. He did hear, he thought it was in his head. But, deciding not to hurt the dear mask, he shook his head. "No, I'm so sorry. I must've been too far down the river." He lied to him, kissing his cheek comfortingly. "I'm sorry."
Hearing this, Dyo smiles lightly. "oh... I'm sorry I overreacted." He spoke, kissing him back. As he put his head back down on the doctor's arm, he fell asleep, and the doctor fell asleep next to him.
