Friends and Foe (PT. 2)

The moment I walked into the house I was bombarded with questions. I'm just thankful that he didn't see Billy driving me home; that would've been a mess.

"Where were you?" Steve questioned.

"I was dropping off homework to a friend of mine," I snipped.

"Don't get shitty with me, Y/n. Please! I've had a rough day."

"What happened?" I asked while grabbing myself a bottle of water from the fridge.

"This guy that's in my gym class is a total douchebag."

"Yea?"

"Yea! He keeps talking shit about me, and he keeps calling me "King Steve" because he's "replaced" me as king of the school," Steve groaned.

"That sucks."

"Then, he keeps shoving me, which is a foul might I add, every time we play basketball. After all of that, he still has the audacity to give me pointers and correct me."

"That last part sounds like he's trying to help you."

"I promise you: if you would've seen and heard what he did and said. you would know that he isn't trying to "help" me."

"Just don't engage. The worst thing you can do is add fuel to a fire that's already in flames," I advised.

"Yea... I guess you're right, but that doesn't change the fact that I absolutely hate him."

"Well, I had a good day! There's this new girl, and she's super cool! She's funny and nice, and she even rides a skateboard like I do!"

"Good for you," Steve rolled his eyes. He stormed into his room like a 3-year-old throwing a tantrum (what else was new).

That's just part of life I guess... You're gonna have friends and foes.

I decided to ignore him like I usually do and go lay down on the couch. All I could think about was Billy; nothing else. Eventually, I fell asleep, and he even snuck his way into my dreams.
------

My morning was calm until about 3rd period.

"Y/N!" the nagging voice that could be matched only my brother screamed as I was standing by my locker.

"What do you want, Steve? It's too early for your shenanigans."

"Where were you yesterday?" Steve interrogated me as he slammed my locker shut.

"What?"

"Where were you before you came home?"

"I told you: a new girl in my class forgot her books, and I brought them to her," I rolled my eyes.

"Alright, who took you home?"

"I rode my skateboard home," I said getting impatient.

"I didn't realize Billy Hargrove's car was a skateboard," Steve snipped.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me! Who drove you home?"

I had already started to walk away, but that did no good considering he just followed right behind me.

"Why does it matter?"

"It just does," Steve whined.

"It doesn't."

"Then, why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I didn't want to exaggerate it and make it a big deal like you are now!" I sighed.

"It IS a big deal; this guy is a major douche."

"Well, he wasn't a douche to me, so drop it!"

"I'm not going to drop it, and of course, he wasn't a douche to you; he's trying to get in your pants," Steve yelled. Almost everyone in the hallway stopped what they were doing to look at us.

"You're embarrassing me. Now, drop it!" I spat in a low growl.

I walked away leaving Steve stunned in the middle of the hallway.

I decided to go sit on one of the picnic tables outside of the school. I knew that if I went to class, I would've been too mad to do anything.
---
I was zoned out in my thoughts staring at the picnic table across from me when I felt the extra weight of a warm coat on my shoulders and head.

"It's a little too chilly out here this morning for you to be wearing shorts and a crop top, don't you think?"

I turned around to find no surprise. Billy Hargrove.

"Skipping class, I see," he laughed.

"I'm not skipping. My brother pissed me off, and I needed a moment for myself."

"So... you're skipping?"

"Fine, I'm skipping!" I gave a tiny smile.

"You wanna skip together, then?"

"What?" I scoffed.

"Come on! You're already skipping, so why don't we do something fun? We could go get some food," Billy suggested.

"Fine," I reluctantly agreed.

"Good. It's a date," he smirked.
