"MATTHEW!"
Matthew ran out of the house as fast as his legs could take him. With his sister's shaw and father's crook in hand, he finally pulled off the heist of the century. These were both important items to the two of them, and now that he had them both, he could finally make the flag for his fort that he had been building.
He scurried up the large tree that sat at the entrance to the farm and found the boards he had balanced on the tree limbs. He climbed onto the boards and started examining his brand new items. He decided long ago that these items would create a great flag, rubbing in their faces that he could outrun them anytime.
He sat and started to tie everything together when he saw two figures approaching from the house. Rino and Melissa. He never understood why that dog followed her everywhere and not him, he was 10 times more fun than she would ever be. As he watched Melissa march up to the tree, he had to admit, she did look a little weird without her shaw on, but it was his now.
"Matthew," Melissa shouted as she approached, "give it back!" "Give what back?" "You know exactly what." Matthew snickered a little, knowing full well he wasn't going to give the shaw back. "What? My flag?"
Melissa could have sworn that life was better back when she was an only child. Both Mom and Dad were only children, why did they decide to curse her with a sibling? "Oh come on Matt," she exclaimed, "it's cold!" "Aren't you wearing long sleeves?" "That isn't the point!" Its true, she was wearing long sleeves, but the way her dress was, it left her shoulders uncovered, exposed to the air.
"Just give it back!" Melissa was getting annoyed with him, but when was she not? "If you're cold," Matthew shouted down at her, "then just go grab a blanket." "I'm not about to go walking around with a blanket on." "That's not my problem."
Well now this was just getting irritating.
"Matthew Wilder Notos."
Melissa jumped a little when she heard the voice behind her, it didn't seem like she was the one who noticed she had something missing.
