Jeongguk hasn't let it go for weeks now, constantly bringing up the benefits of his apartment when weighed against your small one-bedroom. His intentions are clear, but even so, his proposal one sleepy Sunday night still catches you off-guard, spoon almost slipping out of your fingers and into the tub of mint choc chip ice cream the two of you currently share.
His eyes are passive when they swing from the TV to you, and back again, hardly registering the surprise on your face, though the whisper of a smile against his lips has you reaching for the remote, pausing the movie the two of you had planned to watch two nights ago, but never got round to.
"Are you being serious or are you kidding? Because you have that look on your face,"
He turns then, his eyes sparkling down at you as they always do, but there's something sincere there that still manages to have your stomach rising into your chest with emotion, clogging your throat, "What face?"
"The one you do whenever you're waiting for Taehyung to notice you swapped the salt with the sugar," You point a finger, so close to him on the sofa that it just barely grazes the tip of his nose, and his eyes flick down to it, back up to yours before he clamps his teeth gently around the digit, eyes glowing when you gasp, "Jeongguk..."
"Fine, fine," He sits up a little straighter, the back of his shirt tugging a little on the sofa, exposing his bare shoulder and collarbone to you. On instinct, your eyes dart to look, and you can practically feel your pupils dilate at the appearance of extra skin. When you begin to react like a 18th Century gentleman around Jeongguk you would never know. He doesn't notice your lust, probably used to it by now, "Yes, I'm being serious,"
You don't reply, still mildly shocked and in a state of panic.
"What? You practically live with me anyway," He grins, and you would hit him if you weren't feeling so overwhelmed by the momentous step you were currently taking in your relationship, "When you're not here, I'm at your place. It just makes sense. And as I've mentioned before, my place is bigger,"
"Your place is the epitome of a 'Bachelor Pad',"
He leans over, the arm resting on the back of the sofa behind you coming around your shoulders before he nuzzles his nose against yours, and you feel that deep, familiar swell of affection bloom in your chest, "I haven't been a bachelor for a while now, baby,"
You blink up at him, his eyes reflecting the blue-ish light of the TV, and right now you can't think of a single reason why not to. Aside from the fact that he made no mention of the alternative option; for him to move in with you.
"Why do I have to give up my apartment?"
"Because it's small," He frowns, as if he's surprised you're even making him point this out for what must be the fiftieth time.
"Size doesn't matter," You blurt out, before remembering who your boyfriend is. The smirk drifts over his lips before you can even stop him, and you almost miss what he says next.
"What about the future?" He asks, and his eyes widen slightly, as they do when he's being particularly serious. It's cute, but not as cute as the subtle blush that sneaks up his neck, "I mean...well. Y'know -"
You want to tease him so bad, and despite the flutter of excitement in your stomach, you still feel a sense of duty to the apartment you've lived in since you graduated college. It's your home.
But, Jeongguk is right. One day, you hope, the two of you will move onto the next steps, something you haven't had a real conversation about yet, but Jeongguk's words send a flicker of hope running in your blood, his stuttered words insinuating that one day it won't just be the two of you sharing a home together.
