Jeongguk can't remember the last time he's slept alone in a bed without you by his side. Sure, he spent twenty three long years without you curled up next to him, snoring and drooling a little on his shoulder, but since the last year of your relationship, he's not sure there's been even one night where you haven't been next to him.
The bed is cold, jarringly so, and he shifts to try and get comfortable, to adjust to the extra space. He can't - it's futile. He misses you so damn much.
He's only been gone for two days - that's it. Some people live apart, some others spend a whole year apart doing long distance. But it's night two where Jeongguk feels the familiar pangs of homesickness turn his stomach. The hotel room his media company has put him in is nice enough - floor to ceiling windows, a huge white bed. All the makings of a comfortable stay, just without his home comfort.
He frowns in the darkness, reaching over to the side table for his phone. The time reads 11:24PM, and he wonders if you've gone to sleep yet. Mina was meant to keep you company for a little while tonight - a few glasses of wine and much needed girl-talk, you'd told him. He would hate to interrupt by texting you while you still have a friend over, so he rolls onto his side to attempt to go to sleep.
Jeongguk used to travel all the time without it being much of an issue - the first time he ever missed home as much as he does now was back when he went to Spain, an amazing videographer internship he had been looking forward to for the last year of his studies. But that first night with you changed everything, and you had consumed his thoughts those entire six months he was away.
He can't help but grin to himself a little when he thinks of how far you have come. Over a year together, you living in his apartment with him, discussions of the future constantly going on in between domestic activities of doing laundry and cooking dinner. He's never been happier - he can't imagine how he ever found joy in one night stands when endless nights with the love of his life are far more appealing.
Jeongguk's eyes spring open once more, and a niggle of frustration works its way into his chest. He hates being unable to sleep - normally Jeongguk can call asleep within ten minutes if he's lucky. There have been numerous times where he has fallen asleep during movies with you, waking up to your annoyed face in front of him. He reaches over for his phone again.
11:53PM
"Fuck it," Jeongguk sighs, sitting up against the headboard and unlocking his phone. The brightness of his screen makes him wince a little, so he flips on the small overhead light with the switch on the headboard of the bed.
Jeongguk: hey baby, are you still awake
It isn't long before your icon pops up, indicating you have read the message. Jeongguk's heart flips a little, and he sags against the pillows, a grin on his face whilst he awaits your reply.
My Love: missing me already? mina just left and i'm a little wine drink
My Love: drunk. whoops
Jeongguk is grinning harder now, imagining your cute little hiccups as you text him back. Wine and soju are the only liquors you drink, and you're somewhat of a lightweight with both of them.
Jeongguk: cute, and i always miss you. the bed is too big :(
My Love: i find that hard to believe with your humongous ass. i missu too. boo boo head
Jeongguk: you're mean when you're drunk
My Love: im sorry :( i can show u my boobs ?
He snorts, shaking his head, though he would never turn down a picture of two of his favourite parts of you. When he agrees, it isn't long before you send him a slightly blurry image that has his cock rising to the occasion much sooner than he had anticipated.
