Chapter 14: Dreams...

Ink Rose sighed contentedly, and snuggled closer to Firebrand. They were cuddled up together on the balcony, admiring the stars of Luna's night. "Hey, Rosie?" Firebrand asked, using a nickname for her, that he only used when they were alone together. "Yes?" She replied softly, as if she was almost asleep. "Am I as scared as you and everyone else, or is it just me?"
"Scared? Why would I be scared? I've got you here to protect me." Ink giggled, adjusting her wing to bring Firebrand closer.
"Ink, are you kidding me? This is war. You have no idea what we're up against." Firebrand stressed, his eyes filled with fear.
" What's the big deal? We're in Equestria, Firebrand. Equestria! When are we ever going to have a chance to actually be ponies and live in a world where we won't be judged by our looks or abilities or ages again?" Firebrand stood and started pacing back and forth on the balcony.
"I just- I don't want anything to happen to you Ink. I can't stand the thought of losing you. You're my best friend. You're the only one I can talk to about, almost everything." Firebrand admitted. Ink was almost shocked. "Look, Brand, I don't blame you for wanting to protect me, but I'm not a little filly. I can take care of myself." Ink promised.
"I-I know....but-"
"Shut up and come here." Ink stood as well and draped a wing around Firebrand's neck so that they were face to face.
"Nothing is going to happen to us. Or Kim, or Dr. Wolf, or anypony. We're going to be fine. Okay?" Ink gazed into Firebrand's Golden eyes with her sky blue ones. Firebrand sighed. "Alright, ok." "Ok" She said. Ink nuzzled Firebrand and just as their lips touched...
"BRIIIIIIIIIIING!!! RISE AND SHINE SLEEPY HEADS! WE'VE GOT A LOT TO DO TODAY! "
"Aaaaaiiiieeeee!!!" Ink screamed, falling out of her bed, being rudely awakened from her dream by Majesty shouting into a bullhorn. Ink stood and shook her head to remove the stars in her eyes. All of the sudden, she heard a crash and the ringing stopped. "WE'RE UP. DO NOT DO THAT AGAIN!" Kim had thrown the alarm clock at the wall and was breathing heavily. Her eyes were red and her feathers were ruffled and out of place.
"Well, someone's obviously not a morning pony." Majesty huffed. Kim growled and lunged at the princess. It was Ink who tackled Kim this time.
"Wait a minute..." Majesty examined Kim's face and eyes for a moment. "What happened?" Majesty asked, pointing to a red scar that had formed under Kim's right eye. Kim glanced at her reflection in the water basin by her bed.
"Uh...I don't know. I've never seen it before." Kim reached up to touch it and winced.
"Hm. Let me try something." Majesty's horn lit up and illuminated Kim's face.
"Ow!" Kim exclaimed, stepping back in slight pain. "Sorry! I didn't think that would happen. It was supposed to be a healing spell."
Kim glanced in the water basin again. "Yeah, well it didn't do much healing, that's for sure."
"Something's wrong," Majesty thought to herself. "There's something she's not telling me, and my magic's not working? What is going on?" She pondered these questions for a moment until her thoughts were interrupted by Keyframe.
"The sun's not even up yet. Why do we have to be?" Key mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
"Well..." Majesty tried stalling.
"What?"
"The sun was supposed to be up half an hour ago, but I convinced Mother to wait so we could give you guys a-"
"Super-special-welcome-to-Equestria-and-thanks-for-helping-us-fight-Chrysalis-sunrise-suprise!" A bubbly voice exclaimed.
"Yeah. That." Majesty admitted sheepishly.
Kim facehoofed, and Ink giggled and called out, "Hi Pinkie Pie!"
"Hi there, Rosienator!" Pinkie appeared in front of Ink in a speedy puff of pink.
"Hi KP! Hi Keyframe! Hi Elli! Hi Blissy! Hi Heartso-! Mmmmph! Mmmph Mmm Mmm!"
Pinkie's greetings were cutoff by Majesty stuffing a cupcake in Pinkie's mouth.
Kim gave Pinkie an annoyed glance and looked back at Majesty.
"So this means that Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack and-"
"Fluttershy! Yup, they're all here!" Majeaty finished for her.
"Well, that makes me feel a little better." KP grinned, thinking of the questions she could ask Fluttershy about her and Discord's 'platonic' relationship.
"Alright, come on." Majesty led the ponies to the throneroom for breakfast, her mind still wondering what had happened to KP. She made a mental note to ask Princess Luna about the ponified analysts dreams, and thought nothing more of it.
