Part Thirteen: Who Are the Monsters?

It happened so fast. Your reunion with Eren was cut short when Garrison soldiers came for you arrest, claiming that Eren was a enemy to humanity. You were a soldier, self preservation and protection for you friends kicked in. You picked up Eren's unconscious form and fled with Mikasa and Armin. You didn't get very far though, just managing to get by the corner of the wall, next to a canal. Which leads you too the predicament your in now; surrounded by numerous Garrison soldiers, waiting on the order of Captain Kitz to execute you all, via cannon-fire.

Laying Eren down on the mossy concrete, you joined Mikasa in an attempt to guard Eren's life for as long as you could. Armin sat next to his friend, who was slowly coming to and realising the situation.

Scanning your surroundings, you saw the soldiers wielding their swords and rifles pointing at you. You've killed men, In the past, but you never liked doing it. But when it was done righteously or in the defence of those who couldn't defend themselves, it was just another chore. You hunted those bandits, that took Christa and held the 104th hostage that one time.

"Eren, can you move? Can you understand what I'm saying? Tell them everything you know. They'll understand!" Armin says to Eren, trying to convince him.

Eren looked confused and scared of his surroundings, not knowing what the situation was about.

"Did you hear him? He said 'I'll kill them all'."

"Yeah, I heard the little bastard. He's going to devour us."

Murmurs and voices came from the Garrison soldiers, perceiving Eren as an immediate threat to their existence. They pointed their blades at the four of you, the blades that are used to fight monsters instead of men.

"Why are they looking at us like that? What's going on?!" Eren thinks in a panic.

Suddenly Captain Kitz Woermann stepped forward, a daunting expression wearing his face.

"Trainee Jaeger! As well as Trainees Ackerman, Arlert and (L/N)... What you're doing right now is an act of treason! We may decide to kill you on the spot! If you attempt to lie to us, or make a single move, we will fire an HE Projectile at you immediately. We will not hesitate! Answer me at once! What are you?! Are you man? Or a Titan?" Captain Kitz explained.

You look at the wall mounted cannon pointed directly at your group. Your new found powers have protected you before, but you were sure as hell, that you couldn't survive a full frontal blow from a High Explosive round from a cannon as large as that.

"What kind of question is that? Why look at me like that? Looking at me as if I'm a monster... Is that what they think I am?" Eren questions in his head, getting into a kneeling position.

"I d-dont understand the question!" Eren shouts to the Captain.

You see the Kitz say something to his subordinates, but at this range you couldn't hear anything coming from him.

"Monster! Try that again, and I'll blow you to pieces! It takes an instant! You won't have time to reveal your true form!" The Captain screeches, pointing a finger at Eren.

"This is getting out of hand. This guy is clearly unstable..." You mutter to yourself, looking for a chink in their defences.

"Plenty of people saw you, as you emerged from within a Titan! Humanity has permitted an unknown creature like you to infiltrate Wall Rose! Even if you are trainees, given to us by the King, the safest course is to eliminate the threat immediately! My thinking is correct! The Armoured Titan that destroyed Wall Maria could appear at any moment." He continues his tirade, getting more unstable by the second.
