Everything had been normal for Draco Lucius Malfoy until it hadn't. Draco had just finished a long day working at the Ministry. His recent promotion had added more pressure on Draco. Causing him to be spending less and less time at home. In fact, he often had to rely on his parents more than he would like to. While his mother was improving on her prejudgements Lucius was struggling to do so. Even if Ella (Draco's partner) was the only daughter of Severus Snape (one of Lucius' best friends). Draco was fearful that his father might slip up and he didn't want his own son to have the childhood he had. One fill of expectations to be the perfect pureblood. But there were times when Draco had no choice, but to do so as he was far too busy to watch Scorpius himself. Same for Potter and the rest of the Golden trio. As much as Draco learned to get along with the Weasley after many shared times over the years. He found some of them way too mischievous to leave his child alone with. Thus leading to his parents being the only choice. Yet when Draco picked Scorpius up from Malfoy's manor. Scorpius had this curiosity look that mirrored a look that Ella once wore whenever she was curious. Scorpius continued to wear this look even after they Apparition back to their place. His parents had offered to move elsewhere and hand Draco their family home. Both Draco and Ella had refused to do so both wanting to earn things on their own merit. This is why both of them had held jobs at the Ministry.

The minute Draco had a chance to sit down he still saw his son wearing the same curious look. "Dad."

"Yes?"

"What's a soulmate?"

Draco was confused about how Scorpius was that he was asking that question. "Well before I asnwer might I ask where you learned that word?"

"I asked

"Grandpa Lucius said that you are mom were soulmates and grandma said that she and grandpa were soulmates too."

"Oh and what else did she say?"

"She said Grandpa Severus once had a soulmate too. Then grandpa commented, "through she was muggle born."

At this Draco got down onto his knees looking at young Scorpius. "Well you heard a lot didn't you?"

"Yes now what's a soulmate."

"It's.... a.... having a best friend," Draco started before he was interrupted by Scorpius.

"You and mama were best friends?"

"Yes we were, but that's not all a soulmate is."

"It isn't."

At this Draco shook his head with a warm look on his face. "It's the one person in the world who knows you better then anybody else."

"Even more than grandpa and grandma know you?"

"Yes, even more than that. In fact not only do they know you better than anyone else they make you want to become a better person. Like your mom was for me."

"She was?"

"Yes before I fell in love with your mom I wasn't always the best to people. Something I want you not to be."

"Alright what else papa? What else is a soulmate?"

"Well it's someone you will love and carry with you even after they are gone. Because they were the one person who accepted you for everything you were and aren't afraid to show it. They believe in you no matter what even if everyone else didn't. No matter how much time goes by your feelings for them will never leave you."

"No ever?"

At this Draco shook his head. "Not ever."

"Even if they passed."

"Yes even if they passed like grandpa Snape and" Draco was about to finish the thought when out of the blue she appeared his soulmate. Her long jet black hair was as perfect as ever, her eyes being a mixture of brown and green to make hazel, filled with mischief, yet love at the same time. She looked as perfect as she ever did.

"Mama," Scorpius cried as he ran to her. As Ella lifted up their son into the air.

"Hi, did you have fun with papa?"

"Yes, he told me what soulmates were."

"Oh did he?"

"Yes, he mentioned Grandpa Snape's soulmate."

"Oh did he?"

"Yes."

"Mama?"

"Yes?"

"Was Grandpa soulmate your mama?"

"Yes."

"Then why was grandma with Uncle Harry papa?"

"Well that's complicated and but you can ask grandpa Snape when you are older."

"Why when I'm older?"

"Because you are too young right now."

At this Scorpius pouted even in Ella's arms. "You two always say that. Why can't you tell me now?"

"Trust me you'll find out now I have a surprise for you," Ella said changing the subject.

"What is it, mama?"

"Well, you know how grandpa Snape has been busy with his muggle acting?"

"Yes."

"He had a break and guess who he is visiting?"

"Us," Scorpius asked in an excited voice.

"Yes."

At this Scorpius started. to struggle as Ella let him down running to his room saying he needed to pick it up for his grandpa's visit. Once he was out of the room Ella got closer to Draco. "Hey."

"Hi love," Draco said as he kissed the crown of her head.

"So you two had an interesting time didn't you?"

"You couldn't tell?"

"I could though I'm a bit worried about what Uncle and Aunt will say next. Remember when he was cussing after a trip with Uncle?"

At this, a small smile appeared on Draco's face thinking about what had happened mere months ago. "Yes I do, but we can handle anything can't we love," he asked taking Ella's hand into his.

"Always after if not how else would we be soulmates?"

"Who knows love?"

As the two spent the time checking each other up on their days Draco and the Ministry and Ella visited her father as she always did leading to his visit. The two of them together as they are always being together as two soulmates should be.
