He leads through a series if twists and turns until we arrive into a grand ballroom. Huge cathedral ceiling and gold chandeliers hung from them. Rows of long dining tables lining one side of the room the other half completely empty except for two throne on a raised platform.

All around us people busy themselves with
decorating the elaborate room. Cooks dressed in white bring large platers of food to arrange it on tables. Like they are preparing for a large feast. Taking in the room I turn to Aiden.

"What makes tonight so special?" I ask him.

"My father is coming to meet you and to check on how I'm running things." He says like it was completely normal. As if we were dating and I'm meeting his family for the first time.

"To meet me?! Why are on earth would your father want to meet me?" I exclaim. To which he merely shrugs like he can't be bothered to explain his self and what role I play in all of this. He is the most aggravating man I have ever met. Just when I thought this couldn't get any worse the guy who likes to throw people around rooms.

"I'm sorry about what I did." He says quietly. Which seems to peak Aiden's interest.

"You're sorry about what exactly Xavier?'' he grounds out between gritted teeth. He works is jaw as if its wound to tight.

"Well.. uhmmm we kind of had er.. incident" he mumbles.

"An incident? You almost killed me!" I shout.

"Xavier? What is Ms. Carter referring to?" He boomed. Before Xavier had a chance to speak he went flying across to room and crashing to one of the long table. Aiden is on him in an instant. Hitting with such force I had never seen. Xavier didn't haver time to land a hit even if he had wanted to.

"I made myself very clear that Ms. Carter is not to be harmed in any way. Were my instructions not clear enough for you Xavier? Or are you just a slow learner? If that is the case I can give plenty of time to reflect on my words." With that he was off him and telling the guards to take him away. I had wonder where away meant. However I didn't have to much time to question as Aiden rushed to my side with a string of questions.

"Are you hurt? When did this happen? Why was I not informed?" He begins demanding answers to question to which I have no have to response. Am I hurt? When did this happen? Why didn't Natalia tell him? Why does he care if I'm hurt? He starts check my body for any signs of injury and with the exception of a few bruises which are all covered he finds none. He takes my face in his hands gently rubbing his thumbs across my cheeks to wipe away tears I had not realized fell.

" I promise from this day forward as long as you are in my care no one will ever harm you again. Look at me Riley. Do you understand?" He asks while looking deeply into my eyes.

Oddly enough I believe him. the way he said it without ever taking his eyes off mine. I believe him. He wipes the tears that have yet to stop flowing from my eyes. The same hands that dealt the blows to Xavier's face now touch mine so gently as if I were to break.

"Would you like to return to your room?" He asks softly. I nod my head. Then he quickly pulls me two his chest. I don't have to energy to try and fight him. I wrap my arms around his waist and then it feels like I'm flying. Wind rustles my hair then as quickly as I felt it. It disappears and I'm in my room again.

He's gone in an instant and I'm left with my thoughts. Why does he care if Xavier hurt me? Why did it rage him enough to inflict pain on his own men? Did he really want to keep me safe? Thoughts tumble and bounce around in my head. As I make my way to my bed. Eventually I drift off. It's the best sleep I think I've ever gotten.

I wake to the sound of my door opening. Startled I sit up quickly it's so dark I can just barley make out a shadow.

"It's me, love. Close your eyes. I'm going to turn on the lights." Aiden calls through the darkness. I do as instructed and close my eyes. Behind them I see brightness. I slowly open them to see Aiden standing in the middle of the room holding a pater of food.

He nods as if to ask can he come closer. I silently nod. He steps forward handing me the plater. It smells divine. I lift the lid to see a bowl of vegetable soup and what appears to be freshly baked bread.

"I had the cooks bake the bread fresh for you." He says looking down. Is he nervous?

" I'm sorry you had to see that earlier. I lost my temper I didn't mean to scare you. I would never hurt you! I'm many things Ms. Carter but a man who puts his hand on women especially you I am not." He declares. I offer him a small smile because I do believe him even under the strange circumstances.

"I believe you." I say quietly. He looks up at me for the first time since he entered my room. His eyes burn into mine, so much emotion behind them. Like no one has ever believed he could be good.

"I'll leave you to your dinner. I just wanted to come by and check on you after everything." He says turning away to leave.

"Wait! Uhmm can you stay?" I ask. A look of pure shook rolls across his face. Damnit. When will I learn to just keep my mouth shut.

"I don't think that is a good idea Ms. Carter. Though if it will make you feel better I can have a guard posted outside your door." He offers instead.

"No! I'm sorry I asked it was stupid. It's just that with Xavi-" He interrupts me by placing such a soft kiss on my forehead I wonder if it really happened.

"Your feelings and concern for your safety will never be stupid Ms. Carter. I'll have a guard placed outside your door." Then he was gone. My soup already forgotten I place it on the nightstand and slip down into the bed, pulling the cover up high over my neck. I drift off peacefully.

Ouuuuu some sweet moments between Aiden and Riley more to come:)
