"AHHHH oh my god girl where were you this entire summer!" Jami shrieks while hugging me "Don't worry, that was literally the worst two months of my life" I say letting go of Jami.
As Jami looks behind me I see his happiness fade and look back at me and behind me again. which can only mean one thing. "A text from my ex" meaning Karem is here.
"Hey." Karem says while looking at his phone, he looks up to see everyone staring at him.
"So you're just gonna state and not say hey?"
"You look very comfortable" Jami points out while staring at Karem annoyed.
"So? It's the first day. Who cares"
"People care when you look like you just woke up with a case of bed head."
"Whatever." Karem says walking away.
"Whatever." Jami says mocking Karem while slouching
"Hey, are y'all new?" A kid with red hair says walking behind Jami
"Actually we're sophomores-,"
Jami says while turning around and getting immediately choked up.
"You-your-hi"
"Hey, that must mean you know your way around here."
"Mhm, im Jami."
"Antez, you know what your kind of quite." Antez says looking at me.
"I like that, what's your name?"
"Tyra, and I'm not quite. Just know how to keep my mouth shut."
"We'll see you around Tyra, you to cutie."
Antez says pointing to Jami and walking away.

"OMIGOD DID HE JUST CALL ME CUTE?!?!" Jami says happily squealing
"OMG YESS HE DID!!"
"Wait isn't a cutie like an orange..."
"WHO CARES HE CALLED YOU CUTE!!!"
"Dude, I can hear you screaming from here." Jessica says, slamming a door.
"Sorry." Jami apologizes sarcastically.
"This place has changed so much, or maybe they just got rid of all the bad wood so stuff doesn't keep breaking."
"You remember that one floor board that broke" I say holding back my laugh.
"Yeah this dumbass stepped on it." Jessi says slapping the back of Jami's head.
"Anyways, I heard someone's got a crush."
"Crushes are like something you'd have in middle school Jessi, we're in college." Jamie says rolling his eyes
"What do you call it then?"
"Passing fancy."
"Oh my good the way you say that with so much confidence." I say before me and Jessi start cackling so hard we sound like witches.
"Passing fancy?" I says mocking Jami
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry but passing fancy?" Jessi says while we laugh even harder
"Like ok George Washington."
"Mhm i don't think you should insult the only person who pays rent."
"Yeah well- OH MY HOLY GUACAMOLE." I cuts myself off while gasping
"WHAT WHAT WHAT??"
Jami repeats himself
"OMIGOD! That cat is adorable!"
"Not the cat stupid! Her," I say, staring at a curly haired girl from a distance.
"Wait- OMG ARE YOU LIKE ME?" Jami says squealing.
"I need context, Bestie." I say still staring
"Gay,"
"No"
"This seems pretty gay to me." Jessi says interrupting me and Jami's conversation.
"I'm not gay, I'm justtt y'know, just not putting all my eggs in one basket."
"Mhmm" Jami and Jessi say in sync.
"Whatever, I don't even know her."I say getting defensive.
"Then get to know her dummy, you obviously like her."
"I don't, I'll do it tomorrow."
"Aww, she's nervous. At least talk to her enough so you can get her number." Jessi says
"Fine, I'll go talk to her." I say as I walk to the curly haired girl.
"Cute cat," I remarked leaning against the wall.
"What's her name?" I added
"Addy, Im Nick, and you are?"
"Tyra, nice to meet you Nick."
"Same to you, I have a feeling we're going to meet more than this."
"Agreed, want my number until then?"
"Sure." Nick remarks as she hands me her phone.
While I put my number in her phone I can't help but notice her grinning ear to her.
It almost makes my heart skip a beat.
