Evelin: A New Dawn

     Diamond opens the workshop door, and walks her out into his living room. He almost starts speaking, but a loud booming voice sounds off behind him.
     "BROTHER!! I WAS WONDERING WHEN YOU'D BE HOME!!"
     Diamond flinches and looks behind him.
     "Yeesh, bro, you scared the heck outta me!"
     The other man responds.
     "APOLOGIES, BUT I WANTED TO SHOW YOU A- OH MY STARS!!"
     The other man noticed the lady behind Diamond. He immediately walks forward and extends his gloved hand out for a handshake.
     "HAVE YOU MADE A NEW FRIEND?? HELLO, NEW PERSON!! MY NAME IS STORM, WHAT'S YOUR NAME?"
     She seems startled by the sudden enthusiasm coming from the other man, but then timidly reaches out to shake his hand.

     "Hi! My name is-"
     Her mind goes blank. She still cannot understand why she can't remember her own name.
     "I.. I'm sorry I- I can't remember—"
     Storm puts a hand to his chin.
     "HM, HOW STRANGE. HUMANS NORMALLY DON'T FORGET THEIR OWN NAMES. I SUPPOSE WE ARE LUCKY IN SOME ASPECTS THAT WE ARE NOT HUMAN!"

     "Wait- wait- you're not.. human-?"
     Thoughts raced through her head. Not human?? Ever since she appeared in that white void everything has been nothing but ordinary. Just what was going on??
     Storm laughs.
     "OF COURSE WE AREN'T, WE ARE CANVI! A RACE OF MAGICAL BEINGS OF ALL SHAPES, SIZES, AND SPECIES! EVERY KNOWN CANVI LIVES HERE IN THIS SETTLEMENT, YOU KNOW!! WE EVEN HAVE A HUMAN OR TWO WHO LIVE HERE AS WELL, SO I'M SURE YOU'LL FIT RIGHT IN!!"
     Diamond chuckles at Evelin's expression.
     "Yeah, I know my bro can be a bit 'shocking' at times, mehehe-"
     Storm's expression very quickly sours at the apparent pun.
     "DIAMOND! DON'T YOU DARE CORRUPT THE NEW HUMAN'S MIND WITH YOUR RIDICULOUS PUNS!!"

     "That was a pun?" The girl's face is that of confusion.
     Storm turns back to her with a less sour look.
     "UNFORTUNATELY, YES. NOT ONLY OF MY NAME, BUT OF MY POWERS."
     Diamond laughs some more.
     "Sorry, bro, I didn't mean to get you 'heated'-"
     Storm instantly reacts.
     "THAT'S NOT EVEN ABOUT ME, THAT'S YOU!! UGH! YOU WILL STOP THIS RIGHT NOW, BROTHER, OR I WILL DESTROY YOU!!"
     The human woman thinks for a moment, and then remembers how Diamond had fire in his eye earlier. It wasn't just her imagination; that must be his power. So, she decided to join in.
     "Wow, you're really 'on fire' with these puns."
     Diamond laughs, while Storm facepalms in absolute disappointment.
     "THIS IS A NIGHTMARE. BROTHER, DO NOT ENCOURAGE– ACTUALLY... I APOLOGIZE, YOU STILL ARE UNNAMED. ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF A NAME?"
     Once more, she searched her brain for anything, anything at all, alas, to no avail.
     "I really don't know.. I don't remember anything-"

     While Storm ponders for a reason as to why she has such present amnesia, Diamond shrugs.
     "What about 'Evelin'? I've never seen someone have the name here and it's a nice name for a lady."
     She ponders for a moment. The name sparked something in her brain, like a far distant memory. It felt familiar, yet not at the same time. Her eyes light up and she smiles happily.
     "I like it!!"
     The Gray brothers smile as well before Diamond speaks.
     "Evelin it is then."
     "So, Evelin, it's really late out. I'm pretty sure everyone but a few are all asleep. I know you're new here and since you've only seen me and my bro, you wanna sleep at one of our places?"
     "You can have my bed if you want, I'll just sleep on the couch."
     Storm speaks up.
     "ACTUALLY... AS MUCH AS I'D BE HAPPY TO ACCOMMODATE YOU, EVELIN, I DON'T THINK SLEEPING AT MY HOUSE IS A GOOD IDEA. I NEED TO... TELL SOMEONE YOU'D BE COMING, AND SHE'S ASLEEP. YOU SHOULD SLEEP HERE AT MY BROTHER'S HOUSE. TRUST ME, IT'S SAFER."

     Storm seemed very adamant that Evelin not sleep at his house, so she turned to Diamond.
     "O-okay, I guess I'll sleep here-"
     She'd feel a bit bad if she took Diamond's bed and had him sleep on the couch, though.
     "I can sleep on the couch, it's fine, really."
     Diamond shrugs again.
     "Nah, it's really okay. My couch is actually really comfy to sleep on, I've napped on it like a thousand times."
     Storm looks disapprovingly at his brother.
     "UNFORTUNATELY, HE'S NOT LYING. ANYWAYS, I MUST BE OFF. HAVE A GOOD NIGHT'S REST, YOU TWO!"
     Storm runs out the door and presumably to his home. Diamond rubs the back of his head and blushes.
