cheyenne's POV

i've been home for about a month now and the coffee isn't shitty which is good.

"chey sweetie a letter from england" mom said as i was packing my rucksack to place back in the closet of my bedroom

"ok mom" i said

i opened the letter and

i was shocked to say the least

"mom i am invited to buckingham palace for a two week stay queen elizabeth wishes to thank me in person for saving her grandsons life back in kandahar" i said

"well accept" she said

"mom you just wanna go so you can meet prince charles" i said

"ok ok you got me but i'm staying in a hotel your staying at buckingham and maybe prince harry might ask you out" she said

"i saved his life not his family" i said

"i know chey but just accept" she said

"fine" i said

her Majesty

i 2nd lieutenant cheyenne Davidson present my compliments to lord chamberlain and have the honour to obey her majesty's command to spend  two weeks at buckingham palace. from april 3rd -april 17th 2008

2nd lieutenant cheyenne davidson

i wrote neatly on the reply card to send back in the mail. only at my mother's request i put in for a two week pass which apparently the army new about and approved hmm i guess no body wants to piss off the queen of the UK

i realized my flight with my mother was in three days. i was surprised that our flight was early. and that our flight was first class.

"mom i have an airborne tattoo on my side" i said

"i know and it covered so don't worry about it" she said i nodded and then smiled before i went to pack my duffle bag for the two week stay at buckingham including my uniform for when i meet the queen and her family. was i nervous hell yeah i am but lets hope that i don't prepare my self for landing like the combat once i am used to. fingers crossed.

"mom have you seen my hat" i asked

"on the hook in the hall" she said

"k thank you" i said

"your welcome" she said as i grabbed my hat and smiled as i picked up my hat. i looked over on the wall where my picture of me in uniform in front of the flag with my grandpa and my uncle all in uniform me matching my grandpa in army green while my uncle was in Air force blue.

four  genreations of military in my family

great grandpa

grandpa

uncle patrick me

four generations of serving three who have seen combat and or have been to a war zone.

"hey army girl" i heard my grandpa said

"hi grandpa" i said giving him a hug before i had to get back to packing while he filled me in on everything and what grandma was up to while i filled him in on going to london

"why are you going to london" he asked

"her majesty the queen requested me to but we all know its an order." i said

"true" he said

"so how are you i know just got back a month ago" he asked sitting down next me as began to fold and pack

"im good im still on afghan time sort of and always feeling like i have a medevac rush doesn't help" i said

"i understand back when i was a cook in nam and when i came back i had to cook just a little so that i could feel useful though your grandma made relax" he said and i laughed

"thats grandma" i said as i rolled up my uniform to place in bag. it made it nice to talk with my grandpa because i am the closest to him. i talked to him before i was deployed and the day i got home and couldn't sleep. he was my rock the person who kept me sane no matter what i did in afghanistan.
