never forgotten promise. [oneshot]

Jinsoul and Jungeun made their pact last summer. 

The sun was creeping over their skin,leaving them sticky as syrup,but they sprawled onto the grass,overlooking the heat.

[Jungeun]

I scooted beside Jinsoul and said : "I'm thankful  you got me out of the house."

[Jinsoul]

"Anything for you Jungeun", and that made Jungeun blush a little.

"If you ever need me,just me a text,or even or a call will do." She added.

"If you ever need me." 

That was the words of affirmation.

They linked their fingers.

They said their promises.

They a made a pact,to be there for each other.

[Jungeun]

Ring!

"Jinsoul, I need you now."

Five Words. That was what Jinsoul needed.

She immediately stopped whatever she was doing and ran to her car.

Jungeun rarely called her for anything,so this must be something very serious.

She went into her car and pressed hard on the pedal, and drove as fast as she could to Jungeun's house.

It was like muscle memory.

Stop!

[Jinsoul]

"UH! This stupid red light!

As she held onto the steering wheel, a wave of anxiety overwhelmed her.

She thought : What happened to Jungeun? Is she okay? Did something happen to her?

That few seconds of thinking felt like an eternity.

At last,the traffic light changed from to red to green.

Jinsoul quickly stepped on the pedal and drove towards Jungeun's house, god speed.

When she reached Jungeun's house, she could hear screams and breaking of items.

This made her extremely nervous and she immediately knocked on the door, shouting, "JUNGEUN! ARE YOU IN THERE?"

After continuously knocking without a reply, Jinsoul fished out her phone and called Jungeun.

Ring!

Thankfully,Jungeun was inside the house. 

However,she was still nowhere to be heard.

What Jinsoul could only do was to keep shouting for Jungeun's name,praying that she was okay.

Creak...

At last,the door opened.

However, what Jinsoul saw scared her for the rest of her life.

[Jinsoul]

"OH MY GOD , JUNGEUN , ARE YOU OKAY ? "

Jungeun was on the floor , wincing with pain.

Her body was badly beaten, and a cut caused her bleed profusely from her arm.

[Jungeun]

"Jinsoul... please take me somewhere else...i dont want to stay here..." 

Jinsoul immediately carried Jungeun in her arms and brought her to her car.

She drove as far away from Jungeun's house to the beach, where it was quiet.

[Jungeun]

"Jinsoul,thank you for bringing me here, i feel so much better now." 

Jinsoul was about to burst into tears but was stopped as Jungeun wiped it away.

"What happened, why were you injured like that?" Jinsoul whimpered.

[Jungeun]

"It's because of my drunk father..."

[FLASHBACK]

"WHY WERE YOU BORN? ITS BECAUSE OF YOU THAT MOTHER IS GONE!" Jungeun's father shouted at five-year-old Jungeun.

Ever since young, Jungeun has blamed herself for her mothers death.

Her mother had died after Jungeun was born, from immense blood loss, after giving birth to her.

She felt that if she weren't born, none of this would have happened.

[Jungeun] 

"So that was what happened. Ever since then , my father has been hitting me and blaming me for my mother's death. It's been worse because he started to pick up his old habit of drinking again. But honestly, he's right."

"If I weren't born, none of this would have happened."

"If only I could just turn back time..."

[Jinsoul]

Jinsoul could not believe what she was hearing.

She didn't know all of this had happened to her best friend.

As she was hearing what Jungeun had say, she couldn't continue hearing it anymore.

Before Jungeun could finish her sentence,  Jinsoul linked her lips to Jungeun's.

A huge whelm of calmness overcame Jungeun.

Jinsoul's lips were soft, almost silken, and pillowy against Jungeun's.

Jinsoul pulled away and said, " Please, Jungeun, do not think of yourself in that way."

"I love you so much."

Jungeun was stunned. 

She didn't think her best friend,Jinsoul actually liked her, although she had given her many hints in the past.

"I love you too." Jungeun replied lovingly, tears pouring from her eyes.

[Jinsoul]

"Stop crying Jungeun , are we officially girlfriends now?" Jinsoul asked jokingly.

Jungeun chuckled and replied with a hug and said, " Of course, today is day one!"

They both smiled and linked back their lips for another kiss.

And there were the two of them, living and loving each other, all because of a promise - to be there for each other , forever.
