Chapter 6
Thursday came and Cairo skipped his appointment. August sent for him but he sent word he was taking his carpenters pre-test to get his apprentice liscense and he had to skip but to book him for five days the following week to make up for it.
August saw her other patient's and thing's seemed to be going well with them. No one was rude or wild so far like she'd though. Angry, upset at being born black in America but thank God no violence.
August text Morgan are we meeting tonight for dinner? She stared at her text knowing the answer before he sent it. Sorry baby I'll make it up to you I promise.
August went home is this what marriage was supposed to be like? What happened to her happily ever after? It was bad enough she agreed to be childless but she didn't agree to be alone.
August arrived home kissing her mix mut 16 pound dog she found or should she say found her one night on the way home. He was a puppy only seven month's old he looked like a russell jack terrier until the vet said he was mixed with poodle.
August cheated on her forever diet to get fried chicken. She opened the box in her car setting up her plate when she dropped her car fob. Damn! She went to pick it up when the dog hopped in her car stealing a chicken wing running to her back seat.
Okay you ate now go. The dog whined giving her a puppy eyes literally. She checked for tags there weren't any after the vet visit he was perfectly fine.
He had no chip and identification the vet said he was an expensive dog that at his age can cost $2000 a male she can stud to make more money.
August wasn't interested what if I leave him? I'll take him to the pound. August tried to walk out the door but heard him whining and she swore she saw tears.
I'll take him. Good! The vet was happy he's a good boy what's his name August? The vet asked.
Victory. I like it the vet smiled.
August came home, walked Victory and let him run the yard it was almost six by the time she was done.
Fuck it...August showered and put on a sexy little number for the spa. Instead of driving she took a cab when she arrived to the brooklyn park slope brownstone she liked it. Why she had to dress up for a spa was beyond her but she followed the dress attire direction's to the letter.
August rang the french door bell and Kalel answered Madam Sinclair? Yes Kalel? Welcome to Nina's Salt Spa please come in.
