chapter four: the fe(male) gaze
trigger warning: mentions of trauma/rape, panic attack.Imogen phone rings, causing everyone to look at her. "No phones in detention." Mrs. Murray says, not looking up from her book.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Murray, but... it's my doctor. I have to take this." Imogen gets up as Mrs. Murray nods. "Thank you."
"Hm." I hum as Tabby and I read a horror book.
-
"Thank god that's over." Faran sighs.
"No shit. Two weeks of detention is nothing after juvie, but... still." Noa says.
"It was lucky. We were lucky." Tabby adds.
"So, what happens now?" Mouse asks.
"What do you mean?" Faran questions. "I go back to "Swan Lake.""
"And I go back to training, counting the minutes till my ankle monitor comes off." Noa says.
"Are you asking about... "A," Mouse?" I ask her
"It's been two weeks and no more psychotic texts. Maybe he's moved on?" Tabby shrugs.
"What about... our moms? Are we never gonna tell them what happened to Karen? Or to us?" Mouse asks again.
"Not until we know more about what really went down with Angela Waters." Imogen speaks up. "It's... weird. I've been putting out calls, but no one wants to talk about her. It's like she's a ghost or an urban legend."
"And you still think Angela Waters is somehow connected to A?" Tabby asks
"All of our moms knew her, and we're their daughters. There must be a reason A is targeting us."
"And the mystery continues. Good luck with that." Faran gets up.
"Crap, I have to go back. I gotta get something from the A/V room." Tabby says. "You guys go ahead. It might take me a minute."
"Okay. Bye." I smile at her before walking off.
-
I let out a sigh, slamming my head on my locker. Class started 25 minutes ago and yet for some reason I don't want to go. Maybe because Daniel is out of suspension. He still continued sending me texts and nudes even though I already told him I'm with Tabby.
"Get to class, Ms. Sanders." Clanton says, causing me to roll my eyes.
"Whatever." I scoff before walking off. I walk inside the classroom as everyone's eyes glued on me.
"You're 26 minutes late, Ms. Sanders."
"I was sick, vomit everywhere." I nod. "That believable?"
"Just.. take a seat. Next to Claire."
