What makes us human? What exactly is it that gives us the ability to transcend all other forms of life on this planet? Arguments about this can be led for hours and I would love to hear your opinions. However, it is impossible to replicate humanities achievements without one thing... curiosity.
I know you've all felt it at least once. That sudden feeling of wanderlust, wanting to see the world or that feeling of smallness while starring at the night sky and wondering what else is out there... That curiosity is an intrinsic part of evolution. If some man hadn't wondered what would happen if he struck two stones together we wouldn't have fire and without fire we would have been, put bluntly, screwed. It is this curiosity of seeing what else is out there an how these things work that have pushed our species to where we are now.
The great discoveries of philosophers and thinkers were made because they ruthlessly asked questions and would not stop until they had the answer. And that, exactly that, has always been the thing about humans: They've never been content with what they had. That may in some cases be a bad thing and the cause of many wars and unnecessary deaths but, used with good and peaceful intent, this striving for perfection, for the grandiose, for greater has driven us to this point now where we can reach any point on earth within hours, talk to anyone we want within seconds, and even leave the planet. But it doesn't end there. We have by no means reached our full potential, which is why it is so important to preserve this curiosity, this fascination for our planet and our universe because in the end it is up to all future generations to fix what we may have messed up, to improve what we have invented, and to further our knowledge of the things we do not yet know. There are so many possibilities today for people to create something new or to find answers to burning questions. So, the next time you have a question or a revelation or an idea, don't stop until it is answered, don't stop until it is shared, and don't stop until it is turned into a reality.
