That night at dinner I sat at the Athena table with my brethren. I was still thinking about the letter we got earlier.
"Annabeth!" Someone from my table called. I was jolted out of my daze. A second later I realized I was staring at Percy at the Poseidon table, and the embarrassing thing was that he was staring right back at me. He smiled when he realized I was no longer zoning out. He waved and I waved back. Someone at my table was like "pay attention Annabeth!" I looked at the speaker. "What?"
"We are discussing something very important! The capture the flag game is coming up soon and..."
I tuned out the rest of the sentence. She had better things to worry about. Capture the flag wasn't until next week and I had plenty of time to plan. Percy was still staring at me. He kept staring at me all through dinner.* * *
At the campfire Percy, Hazel, Frank, Jason, Piper, Nico and I all sat together. I think we were all equally nervous about what was to come. We all kept glancing at the sky and when Chiron finally pounded his hoof against the floor we were all about as jumpy as crickets on steroids. Every camper looked at Chiron when he held the note up to read. He cleared his throat before he said:
"Campers! This note was found at the beach contained in a bottle. It instructs the finder to do this:Tell everyone at the campfire tonight to look up at the sky."
He read the note out loud. Every ones attention turned up to the sky.
Chiron began "I do not know what it means-"
"Look!" Someone said pointing.
I followed her finger and saw something I couldn't believe. I stood up. "Oh my gods! It's Festus!"
All of my friends stood next to me and gaped up at the sky. Even Chiron couldn't seem to believe his eyes. The closer the bronze dragon got the the better I could see the riders. There were two people approaching on the dragon. Now I could clearly see Leo. Percy jumped in the air. "It's Leo!!!" He yelled. Everybody burst into cheers. Leo was pumping his fist in the air with a ginormous grin spread across his face.
"Whoooooooooooo!" I heard him yelling. The girl sitting behind him was smiling and laughing.
A large blast of air hit me as he swooped over head.
"Coming in for landing!" He warned us.
"Clear a space!" I yelled over all the commotion. Everyone separated to create an area big enough for the dragon. Leo swooped over head once more and landed with a thud in the cleared space. He grinned like the maniac he is as he slid off the side of Festus. He held out his arms and the girl slid off right into them. He set her on the ground and turned to us.
"Hi" Leo said waving. Percy, Frank, Hazel, Piper, Jason, and I mauled him.
"Oh my gods Leo! Where have you been!"
"We thought you were dead!"
Nico came up behind us. "How... I felt you die!"
"Yeah!" Hazel said.
"Well," Leo said holding up an empty vial, "the physician's cure worked like a charm. He once again grinned that wide grin.
We laughed and pulled a reluctant Nico into the bear hug.
I pulled away. "Who this?" I asked Leo pointing to the girl that he had arrived with.
"Oh that's-" Leo started.
"Calypso." Percy finished for him.
