True Alpha

Part 11- Kidnapping

"No, but seriously, what are you?"

"A Manticore."I laughed a little

"Not possible, they don't exist." I said but my smug face quickly changed when 'Chris' showed me his true form. A real Manticore almost just like the legend.

It was bigger than I imagined, the teeth were as sharp and big as steak knives.

"Are you sure abut that sweetheart." I recover from my shocked state.

"Okay 1, don't call me sweetheart," I mocked his voice as I said sweetheart. "And 2, Why am I here?"

"My boss wants something very important from you."

"Like what, my soul?" I said rhetorically

"No, but something close." He said, then walked over to the door stated he had to go make a call then walked outside. I use this time to come up with a plan which went, not as well as I thought it would. So I used the half broken chair that I'm tied to, to break the rope. I slide the rope back and forth against the splintering wood and eventually the rope fell right off. As soon as it did I moved quietly but fast to find another exit out of this real life haunted house. 

I hear Chris come back into the house and swear under his breath then run around the bottom floor looking for me. I hear him change form again but I'm guessing he kept the claws because as I'm looking for an escape plan I hear his claws, scratching at the walls making an unbearably loud screeching noise. 

"Come out, come out wherever you are." He says. God this guy is cringy. I mean I get this is something out of a book but dude... we're not in a movie. 

I then open a door, making it squeak and run the opposite way hoping to throw him off my trail. 

"Found ya." I hear him say as I run back down the hallway. I run pass the basement door then get flashes of the doors that lead outside from the basement. I run back and go through But Chris caught up and was right behind me. I ran up to the doors and opened them to reveal the outside and my key to freedom. I turned and kicked the door closed right onto Chris' face his glowing red eyes and sharp teeth burned into my memory. 

As I run to take my escape I feel someone grab my arm. 

"Did you really think you would get away that easy Alpha?"

I get my arm loose and turn to run only to see that I'm surrounded by people who I'm gonna guess are his associates. 

"Let me guess, you're the boss?" I Know this is a horrible situation to be in but this is just laughable at this point. Out of no where the people in the circle start chanting and I crumple to my knees in pain blue streaks of what I'm assuming is power flooding out of my crumpled form. 

"Stop, please." I cried in pain. But to no avail, the pain continued and built up until I couldn't bear it anymore. All my power bursted and everything just stopped. I rose to my feet and looked around. All the chanters are unconscious on the ground around me and it was just me and the 'boss'. 

"You tried to take my power. You tried to get Chris or whoever he is close to me, to manipulate me. How well did that turn out?" I said as I blasted him. I could see blue light surrounding me and as I looked into the 'bosses' eyes I could see the reflection of my own. Just like the dream glowing blue and radiating power. I look around and just now notice the forest around us. As I turn and look more and more wolves continue to show theirselves and they all stop at the forest line, snarl and pounce at the 'boss'. Guess it's safe to say I won't have to worry about him again.

I thank the wolves, try to get a handle on my powers and make my way home back to my grandparents.

As I open the door they come running to me plus Harper. Guess after the text she came here. "Oh Mari, where have you been? Are you okay? What happened?" They all said bombaring me with multiple questions at once.

"Ok, ok, I'm fine, just got lost." I lied because Harper was there and I just want to protect her from the supernatural and the craziness that I just went through. They calmed down a little and Harper left soon after. 

"Ok, what really happened."

"What do you mean." 

"We know you didn't get lost."

"Ok, well, I went looking for anything about our family history for a project and I found the letter that Mom wrote for me. Let's say I did a lot of research after that and then I went on that date I mention dot you guys." Then nodded with everything I've said so far. "Well, he and his 'boss' turned out to be, um, manticores." They looked shocked

"What happened."

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine but um, They tired to take my powers. They I, I don't know like unlocked my powers and wolves come out of the woods and took care of the 'boss' but I'm not sure where the date is now."

"You awakened your powers?" Grandma asked she looked terrified

"I told you it would happen." Gramps retaliated 

"Wait, What do you mean you told her? You guys knew about my powers?"

"Yes, but we were going to tell you-" 

"But you didn't!" 

"We wanted to wait till you were older."

" My life was just threatened because I didn't know I had powers."

"Mari calm down." That when I noticed the light around me again. I looked towards the mirror next us and I looked....different. My brown curly hair floating all around me, My skin was more sun kissed now. My clothes changed instead of my normal jeans and a t-shirt they took a more forest vibe, and lastly my nice golden honey brown eyes, turned into a intimidating icy blue. 

I remembered what I did to those people back in the forest. I don't want to hurt anyone"Will you help me control it?" I asked my voice sounded small and begging. 

"of course honey." They said and as I calmed down my looks went back to normal.
