It was a beautiful day, even the city noise coming through the windows of the apartment seemed softer and more comfortable. The sunlight was more gentle than scorching, warm in the morning and pleasantly caressing the skin. Chris stood at the window for a few seconds, a few red strands among the dark hair in the bright sunlight as if blazing with red-orange reflections of the flame.
Chris glanced regretfully at the phone screen, he did not have time for breakfast, succumbing to the relaxing atmosphere of a cozy morning in his spacious apartment. Most likely Sam would have forgiven him for being late, but Chris decided not to let his friend down. They already agreed to meet at his house, so Chris does not need to go anywhere to meet with a friend. It would be wrong to be late in such a situation. He quickly put on his sneakers, stuffed his phone into his jeans pocket, and slung his bag over his shoulder.
Chris was already entering the elevator when the door to the neighboring apartment opened and the nervous jingle of keys was heard. His neighbor Alec was obviously late for his university classes.
"Wait for me," Alec asked displeasedly, hastily closing the door of his apartment.
"Go on foot," Chris replies politely, pressing the button for the first floor.
Before the elevator doors closed, he still had time to capture in his memory the neighbor's face twisted with anger, to appreciate the furious look of green eyes and hear some of the irritated curses. No, he doesn't always do that, and is usually very polite and friendly with people. Chris is not an asshole, but his neighbor yes. Moreover, he did not find out about this immediately, but a week ago. Alec moved into the apartment opposite quite recently, before that Chris shared the staircase with a married couple, but they moved to another city.
For the first time he saw Alec on an equally pleasant day, when he unsuccessfully tried to bring a whole bunch of boxes into the entrance and hold the door. One of them was clearly about to fall, but Chris slightly quickened his pace and easily held the top box, for his height this was not a problem, "May I help?"
"Thank you, I would not refuse help," the stranger's voice was tired.
Chris took a few boxes from the guy and was finally able to examine him properly. And his first thought was: "He is completely my type." Both height and figure seemed to have been created for the hugs of Christ, so he suited him. Chris liked to hug his guys from behind, resting his chin comfortably on his shoulder, but with his height, he always needed to lean a little, but the new acquaintance was ideal for this. And light blond hair, and big green eyes, and full lips on an almost doll-like face - were the embodiment of the guy of his dreams. Chris did not even suspect that there was a person who could please him so much at first sight.
Alec smiled gratefully in response to the help, and was finally able to enter the entrance. He stopped in front of the elevator and Chris hurried to help, "I'll press the button".
But he was a little late, and his fingers touched fingers of Alec. In fact, there was nothing special about it if the guy in front of him did not seem so attractive to him and did not smile so sweetly. Chris still remembered how fast his stupid heart beat at such a simple touch.
"Which floor?" asked Chris, letting the guy into the elevator.
"Fifth", Alec replied. "I just moveded in yesterday."
"Fifth?" Chris wondered, hoping his voice didn't sound too pleased. "So you're my neighbor. What an amazing coincidence. My name is Chris."
"My name is Alec", his voice was joyful, because his new neighbor was good."Thank you for helping me. My friend was late, so he couldn't help me get the rest of the stuff. You are my savior. Can I invite you for a pizza? As a thank you."
