Until Then

Ch. 4 Will you...

Weeks go by, Zelda and Link say goodbye temporarily to go meet Daruk and Lady Urbosa.

They then plan to meet at the castle.

Revali heads there early. Already missing link. He tries to tidy up what he can, that's when Mipha shows, later Zelda and Urbosa. Then Daruk.

"Wait where's Link?" Revali said trying not to sound desperate

"Oh. Little guy said he had to run a quick errand. He'll be joining us shortly" Daruk said with a smile and patted a rough hand on Revali's back.

They made their way to the only stable place enough to talk and be comfortable. A small wing in the castle, that was mostly dust. Hours go by and Revali is getting antsy.

"Hey, it's alright. This is Link we're talking about" said Urbosa trying to calm Revali down.

She was right. He's probably out there. Cooking mushrooms or something he thought shaking his head lightly.

Link had actually been in the middle of the Hebra mountains in search of a specific stone. When he did find it, he found just enough to make what he was doing. He started his craft, he had learned from a young Gerudo woman on his travels how to make jewelry. Melting and bending the metal into a circle, at last he added the jewel. He teleported back to Hyrule field where he called his horse Epona and made his way to the castle.

Where upon his arrival he could hear the squawks of Revali and the yelling of everyone else trying to calm his nerves. He quickly entered the room they were in. With his hair a mess, along with torn clothes. Revali ripped himself away and quickly crossed the gap in between them. And started circling him for any injuries and smelling him.

"Where were you!? Had me worried sick. I just got you back and you end up disappearing!

Why are your clothes all torn and hairs a mess" Revali clicked his beak.

What were you doing? Wrestling a bear!?" He started to sign. But Revali blocked what it was from the others. But whatever it was. Made Revali's feathers puff out a little. He quickly cleared his throat and they smoothed back down.

Alright fine, but next time just let me know."

"So what's going on?" Said Daruk confused

Revali then remembered everyone else was watching "Oh nothing, apparently our lovely little Hero wanted to follow up with my gift. With his very own." As Revali was turned around, Link raised his hands to sign for them. "I want to propose to him. Later" and put a finger to his lips and winked.

Their faces all break into a smile and with that they all let out a laugh. Revali hadn't even noticed until then that they were laughing. And only laughed with them. They took a seat and Link tells them of everything that happened. They take turns sharing stories. By the end of the night. Link was pulled away by Zelda. She released him from his knightly duties, but could always return if he wanted.

He found Revali on a part of the roof, where he sat next to him. The night sky glittering with stars.

"It's just crazy, to believe I'm here again. Here sitting under the night sky with you again.." Revali said. Link intertwined his fingers around Revali's feathered ones. He slightly got up on his knees, where he then pulled out the Braid Ring he had made with a beautiful blue stone.

"Revali, my beautiful, talented, intelligent Rito." He started. "I never knew what love was until I met you. You opened my eyes more than Hyrule ever has. You showed me the skies, a place I only ever dreamed of. On winds that could take away my loneliness and fill my heart with nothing but joy."  With a shaky voice he continued

"Would you do me the honor of becoming my life partner?"

Revali already had tears in his eyes and quickly nodded "Yes of course! " Link quickly stood up and rubbed his nose on Revali's beak. a tender moment passed, He sat behind Revali and carefully took one of his braids out. Luckily he had stopped at Rito village to learn a few braiding styles from Teba and his wife. It was an intimate tradition in Rito culture, but they saw Link as one of their own and let him watch. He took his time combing any knots before he took the top section and braided one french braid, then the rest of the hair into two fish tails that laid on Revali's shoulders. Link then took the Ring and placed it in the very middle of the 1st braid.

Link took a picture with the Sheikah slate and showed it to Revali. Then before he knew it, he himself was being sat down "Finally I can take care of this rats nest!" Revali said smiling

His gentle feathers comb through all the knots and tangles. Taking out leaves and branches, clicking his beak in frustration at first. With all the slow tedious pulling and de tangling of Links hair. Revali took the two front sections and expertly braided them. He looked to his wing and pulled out 3 feathers of different sizes. Arranging them to shine proudly against Links Golden hair. By the time he was done Link was looking at him with so much love. They held each other again, until morning. Where they said their goodbyes to the rest of the champions and made their way back home. It was a mess, dust and rotting wood. The roof was slightly caved in.

They immediately got to work, fixing up the place. Of course it would take longer to get supplies to fix everything and replace what had been lost.
