Chapter 5

" what about Jake??" Maria questioned

"you can still write him and see him when he is done with school, Jane (old foster mom) Already said it was fine. " Steve Reassured her. " don't worry i will keep an eye on him for you"

"ok thank you!".

"No problem, just make sure its ok with Stephanie and Paul" Steve said sternly.

"ok" Maria said while walking over to the peninsula and sitting a bar stool.

"Who is Jake?" Paul questions

"my old foster brother. He has become more of real brother to me lately" Maria says

"ok then"

By that time it was close to 5 PM (Maria slept really late)

"Are you going to have dinner with us Steve?? " Stephanie asks " Shawn is going to be coming for dinner"

"No thank you, have to be getting back to the office then the wife" Steve says

"make sure she gets to her counseling appointments every 3 days. For the stuff that she went through that shall not be named"

" Alright wheres it at" Stephanie asks

Steve wrote it down and the times down.

"Now behave, eat 3 meals a day, don't be scared of the people I trust this family and Shawn, go to counseling, relax, don't brake any laws, listen to them, call me if you need anything and i will be back in couple days to visit you" Steve says hugging her.

" Ok." maria says while hugging back

Steve leaves

" who's Shawn??" Maria Asks

"My best friend" Paul says

"Alright, is he as big as you??" Maria asks

"no, a lot smaller then me"

" okay"

"Do all big guys scare you??" Paul asks.

" A little bit. that's what we've been working on in counseling lately to not think of every big guy being like the man that hurts me and it is working a little" Maria says with a smile

" You work hard when it comes to counseling don't you??" Stephanie asks

" mmhmmm, he may have ruined my life for now, but i want to not be scared of everything anymore. That includes people, sounds everything" Maria says

"So all that fear, yet you still want to do better??" Paul asks

" yeah, i may be scared, i may not know what its like to be happy, have a family to be there for me, i may have never known what its like to be a kid or be normal or have my own birthday cake, but i want to really bad." Maria says with a lot of passion behind her voice

there is a knock on the door. Maria shoots up and walks into the kitchen out of habit as Stephanie walks

" what are you doing" Paul asks

" I have no idea, habit I guess"

" really weird habit" Paul says

" Whenever there was company I got told to get drinks or make food, so i got used to whenever i hear to the door bell ring or someone know its my first reaction" Maria says kind of not knowing what to do now

" you don't know what its like not to be doing some sort of chore do you??" Paul questions.

" nope, do you have something that i can do chore wise??" Maria asks.

"No, but can you please grab a bottle of water out of the fridge for me"

Maria nods and walks to fridge and grabs out a bottle of water and hands it to Paul

" Thank you. Do you feel a little better now??" Paul asks

"yes, yes i do thank you"

Shawn walks into the room
