Part two
Cole went upstairs with a small smile on his lips. He was already making process! She wasn't as difficult as people told him she would be. He left his bags in the room that was empty except for a bed, a desk and white curtains.
Suddenly, a screeching sound startled him while he was folding his clothes in the closet. As he followed it he realized it was the noisiest heavy metal he had ever heard combined with lots of people talking.
'Emma what's going on?' he asked when he entered the living room.
His patient stood shirtless in the middle of the room, wearing only a sports bra and the shorts from before. In front of her where at least six televisions, all of them in differents channels. To her right, the stereo blasted that awful music at top volume. As a sober companion for drug addicts Cole was used to witnesing all kind of strange things so he wasn't too upset at the situation. He unplugged the stereo and repeated his question.
'Do you believe in love at first sight?' she asked.
Confused, he watched as she turned off all the TVs at once with one remote and looked at him adoringly.
'I know what you're thinking. This world is a cynical place and I'm a cynical person to think that someone like you would fall for a line like that'
She came closer and gazed into his eyes with a look that could melt the hardest of hearts. She smiled.
'But it isn't a line.' she caressed his cheek with the back of her hand ' So please hear me when I say this...'
Cole was captivated by her beautiful eyes.
' I have never loved anyone as much as I do you at this moment.'
''Do you believe in love at first sight?''
He jumped. Of course. She was reciting lines from a tv show.
She smiled again and left the tv on, in wich an actor was saying the exact same words she had just said.
'Perfect. Just perfect.'
'Care to share?' he asked.
'I must introduce myself again, my dear. Emma Holmes, at your service'
She made a little curtsy.
'You know how hard it is to legally change your name when living in another continent? While on a rehab facility?' she sighed 'God bless America'.
'Too many confusions with the actress?' he joked.
'It seems you are the only one who understands my struggles, Watson.' she answered seriously.
He kept quiet.
The next second she was out of his sight and off to put some more clothes on.
'Did your mother tell you about me?' he wondered. They had yet to speak bussiness.
'She emailed. Because you know, phone calls are to intimate. She said to expect some sort of addict sitter'
'Then she explained your conditions respect your sobriety?'
'If you mean her threats to throw me out of this dump if I didn't behave then yes, she made her intentions very clear. Crystal.' she said as she put some military boots on. 'Can you believe she owns five appartments and a bloody penthouse in Upper East side and the bitch gave me this?'
'Stop complaining, you've only been here for two days. It'll warm up to you'
'No I haven't and no it won't.'
