Zaya Perysian Goes to Skeewl

Zaya couldn't believe that she was going back to school once again. That she was only one week away from going back to the same school with the same people she knew before. It would be a good thing on some ends because she would be able to see some of her old friends. But that would also mean that she would see some familiar faces that she did not want to see. Not to mention the fact that she is not prepared. she doesn't have any supplies.

      She spent the afternoon going back to school shopping at a local Target. She got all the things that she thought she would need for high school. Some pencils, some notebooks, all that usual stuff. When she got home she spent the rest of the time researching what exactly she would have to catch up on. It seems like a lot of work. It almost made her regret  that she dropped out. She would have to take all her SATs that she didn't take on junior year. She missed an entire year of school work. There was no doubt that there would come and many challenges to going back to school. But it was a risk that Zaya had to take.

      The days passed by quickly, and before she could even process it, it was the first day of school. She packed her things in an old backpack that she used to use. She packed a notebook some pencils and some folders. She was quite nervous, she hadn't stepped foot inside of a school in a very long time. She got her keys, grabbed her backpack, and went out the door and into the car. She put the directions of Valley High on her phone and started to drive. It was a 10 minute drive. She drove anxiously, not knowing what awaited her behind those School doors. When she got to the driveway of the school there were many cars and many school buses nearby. She parked her car in an empty spot, she  opened the cad door, and got out of the car. There were a lot of people entering the school, whole crowds of them. She tightly grabbed her backpack and started to walk towards the school doors. She hoped that she would see a friendly familiar face that she could talk to. And, luckily she did! She saw her High School best friend Gia Canning, sitting at an outdoor area with some girl she didn't know. She quickly rushed to where she was and got behind Gia to scare her. She poked her shoulder and she had turned around in shock. "Oh my God, Zaya is that you?!", said Gia happily. "Yeahh it's me," replied Zaya. They both hugged eachother. Then, Gia said "It's so good to see you again, what are you doing here, I thought you dropped out?" Zaya responded " yeah, about that... things didn't go out as planned. I came back here to get my GPA." Gia responded," I'm so sorry that things didn't go out as planned. But at least you got us for the rest of the school year." Gia turned her head to look at the other girl in the table that she was talking to before Zaya arrived. Then Gia said, " oh yeah this is my good friend Veondre. She's been my bestie while you were gone. But now we can be a trio!" Zaya shook Veondre's hand and said "Nice to meet you." Veondre replied, "Nice to meet you too." The three of them walked into the school together and into the hallways. They took out a piece of paper that principal Ellen DeGeneres gave her when she came in last week. It had all the records of the classes that she needed to go to and her locker room number. She took out the paper from her pocket and looked to see where her locker was. Then she said," hey do you guys know where Locker 2123 is?" Gia replied, " I think that's by the science lab on the east side, let me take you there." The three of them walked across the building. Zaya could see a lot of familiar faces in the hallway, it felt like deja vu. Almost like her life in the school was a blur. She got lost in her thoughts for a moment. "Here it is," exclaimed Gia. It was the locker they were looking for. Zaya put in the combination code and opened her locker. Then Gia asked,"what classes are you going to? I want to see if we have any of the same classes." Isaiah looked at her paper that had the schedules, and looked for her first period class. Conveniently, it was the science class next to her locker. Zaya told Gia" it's the science class right here." Then Gia replied, " bummer. I got a math on the west side of the school. I got to go now since I have to go to the other side of the school but hopefully we have at least one class together." So then Gia and Veondre left Zaya to attend to her locker. Zaya put her backpack in the locker, and took out a notebook and a pencil. Since the room was so close to her locker she had time to come back for her things without having to carry so much. While she was putting stuff in her locker, she noticed and attractive boy walking by, someone she hadn't seen before in the previous years when she was at school. Maybe it was a someone from another grade. He was tall, had long wavy hair, and looked like a skater boy.   She was distracted for a moment, but later snapped out of it. She grabbed the notebook and a pencil and went into the science classroom. She sat in one of the desks and waited for the teacher to arrive. There were a couple of other students there, some faces she recognized and others she did not. Then, the teacher walked into the classroom. It was that vegan teacher, Miss Kadie. Her worst nightmare.  She was a teacher that Zaya had sophomore year before she dropped out, and she was one of the worst teachers she ever had. She thought she was safe from ever seen her again because she taught a lower class, however it seems that she's been switched to teaching seniors. She always gave Zaya bad grades because she did not want to go vegan. That vegan teacher always prioritized her fellow vegan and vegetarian students, but never liked or paid any attention to the carnivores. Zaya tried to hide her face with with the notebook that she brought, hoping that vegan teacher wouldn't recognize her. The vegan teacher walks to her desk, then told the class "Settle down students, it's time for class." The students sat in the seats and became quiet. Then the vegan teacher said "okay! So it's the first day of school, and I want to get to know all of you. So I'm going to take attendance and then we're going to have a few fun activities before we get into anything science-related. She took out her attendance list and started to call out names. Zaya knew she couldn't avoid what was going to  happen next. The vegan teacher kept calling names and people kept responding that they were here. Then the teacher looked at the sheet at saw Zaya's name. Then, she chuckled, then said "Zaya Perysian... I never thought I'd hear that name again. Zaya, are you here? The class started to look around, and Zaya was still hiding her face with a notebook. Then that vegan teacher saw Zaya, then walked to where she was seated. Then that vegan teacher pulled the notebook down slowly from her face. Zaya and that vegan teacher looked at each other with tension. Then that vegan teacher said I never thought "I'd see you here again. But nonetheless this is a pleasant surprise", she said sarcastically, "welcome back to school." That vegan teacher return to her desk, in Zaya was left with anger. She just wanted to get that class over with, so she could march to the school office and try to switch classes. After some time the period was over and the bell rang. All the students got their supplies and went out the door. Zaya quickly rushed to the door to get out as fast as she can. She didn't want to spend one more second in that room. She quickly ran out of the room, and rushed to her locker. She grabbed all her things, and ran to the nearest bathroom. She sat down in the toilets and started to panic. After calming down, she left the bathroom and accidentally bumped into somebody. Isaiah quickly apologized by saying, "I'm sorry I wasn't looking where I was going.." then she looked at the person to see who they were, and it was that boy she saw earlier. He replied," it's okay, don't worry about it." As soon as they all realized that it was the guy that she saw earlier, she wanted to start small talk with him. So, she said "I don't think I've seen you here before, what's your name?" The boy replied, "Oh, my names Vinnie Hacker. What's yours? Zaya replied "I'm zaya perysian. Are you a junior or a sophomore? I don't think I've seen you here before." Vinnie replied, "No, I'm a senior." Zaya was pleasantly surprised. She said, "Oh, I'm a senior too! I didn't think you were a senior since I haven't seen you here before." Then vinnie responded, "Oh that's cause I'm kind of new here. My family moved here a year ago. I came in junior year." Zaya replied "Oh that explains it!" Then vinnie said, "Well I gotta get going, but who knows, maybe we have a class together." Zaya replied "Hopefully! Bye!" Vinnie left, and Zaya was exictied. She hasn't felt this way in a long time. The guys at McDonald's weren't exactly flattering to the eyes. And Ronald McDonald was fine, but he was too old for her. Now she was exposed to boys her age, she forgot how exciting it felt to talk to pretty boys her age.

   Then she got the rest of the day over with. It was a decent first day, except for science class when she saw that vegan teacher. But overall, It was a good day. She reunited with her best friend Gia, and she met a cute boy in the hallway. Who knows what other adventures await *in Australian accent*.
