A special Apprenticeship

Honeykit thought he would burst with excitement. He and his littermates were finally going to be apprentices, "Honeykit" squealed Petalkit as she thrust herself at him, a look of excitement spread through her face, "Lightbird says we have to look good for our apprentice ceremony, so we have to get washed" says Petalkit and she strutted back into the nursery. Honeykit turned and raced towards the nursery, but accidentally ran into Mistykit," sorry Mistykit, I wasn't watching, he looked sheepishly at her, and she shyly backed away "good luck on your apprenticeship" she called and ran back to her littermate Jetkit. Honeykit turned and walked through the entrance to the nursery. 

"Oh, Honeykit, come here, you need to look good for your apprentice ceremony" fretted his mother Lightbird as she hurried over and started cleaning him, Sandwing pushed through the entrance to the nursery.

" Sandwing", cried Bramblekit as he raced towards his father. "Hello, my 3 new apprentices, he licked a piece of fur that was sticking up on Bramblekit's head. Honeykit, Petalkit and Lightbird giggled and Honeykit could hear more laughter from across the nursery, it was Silentkit, Berrykit and Nutkit, they were giggling at Bramblekit who was sitting there while Sandwing was grooming him, looking amusingly at them.

Jetkit and Mistykit came bundling in grinning at Bramblekit. "You looked like a pigeon" commented Jetkit as she sat up in her nest with Pearlleaf. "I wonder who your mentors will be" says Lightbird, changing the subject, as she finished Honeykit's grooming. "I want Bluepatch to be my mentor" squeaked Petalkit as she excitedly raced around the nursery. "She's a great hunter and a ferocious fighter" commented Sandwing, "She's also a great battle partner".

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey to join me under the Rockledge" called Coralstar. "It's time" called Lightbird and gave each of the kits a quick grooming, "come on kits" replied Sandwing as he led all three kits out into the clearing. Honeykit  shrunk back as every cat's eye burned into his pelt. Bramblekit and Petalkit were walking proudly with their eyes shining. The three kits sat in the middle of the clearing staring up at their leader.

"Honeykit, Bramblekit and Petalkit", says Coralstar, "you have reached the age of six moons and now it's time for you to be apprenticed".

"Honeykit, Bramblekit and Petalkit, from this day forward until you receive your warrior names, you will be known as Honeypaw, Bramblepaw and Petalpaw. "Bramblepaw, you're mentor will be Thornwhisker, Honeypaw, you're mentor will be Thunderwing and Petalpaw you're mentor will be Bluepatch, I hope these warriors will each teach you the ways of our noble code and pass their skills down to their apprentices". "Yes Coralstar" called the warriors".

"Yes, my mentors Bluepatch" screeched Petalpaw in delight as she bounded over to the she cat. Honeypaw was really looking forward to 6 moons of training with Thunderwing.
